How often does one find a ring by renowned Taxco modernist Enrique Ledesma? Let me answer my question - almost never! Over the years of my buying, selling and researching vintage Mexican silver jewelry, I have come upon a few examples, almost all of them adorned with a color-change sapphire. I had never seen a ring in the design I am presenting here until I discovered this one some time ago...

English Edwardian 10K Gold oval shape Stick Pin, etched "F" in front and 10K marked in the back, 2 1/2" long for whole length, 1/2" x 3/4" wide for oval shape head, the condition is good.

This unsigned Hattie Carnegie swan brooch has a lucite coral neck and body with black marquise shaped rhinestones. It is 2 1/4" square. this brooch has an open-work goldtone metal backing.

A great example of Victorian Etruscan work displayed on the middle nine links of this 18Kt yellow gold graduated bracelet. The bracelet graduates from the center where the width is 17 millimeters towards the two ends where the width is 9 millimeters. The center five links are further enhanced with eight seed pearls. The length of the bracelet is 8". The top of the bracelet is in very good condition, on the back there are some dents and dimples which are not visible when the bracelet is worn.

Matching the "festoon with teardrops" necklace I recently sold, this set of earrings by the Los Castillo workshop is truly glamorous! I love the flair of the bifurcated element at the top with its curvaceous central semi-sphere which mirrors the sculptural elegance of the teardrop. And, please, note the playful articulation of the semi-circular links forming the main dangle. Aren't they just a pleasure? The earrings measure 1 3/4" long by 1 1/4" wide and weigh 17.5 grams (for the set)...

A vintage modernist sterling silver necklace, #285 by Hans Hansen, Denmark, with teardrop shaped gilded dangles. This design is difficult to find.

Measures about 16 1/2" around, the curvature of the long links makes it difficult to get an exact measurement. Better for a slender neck. The drops are 1 1/2" long.

This great sterling silver ring has an oval, central blue gem turquoise gem: petit point bezel-set. The stone sits with the decorative stamped outline. It is a size 9; but, has an adjuster. The front measures 1 1/4" x 1". It has good heft, weighing over 1 ounce. The back is marked TG.

Sterling bangle by California silversmith, Allan Adler, c.1960's. Handmade and of heavy gauge silver, it measures 2 3/8" diameter and is 3/4" wide. This very substantial piece has a decorative braiding on each side of the sheet silver. It is signed "ALLAN ADLER STERLING" and is in excellent condition. This sterling silver pendant has an arts and crafts feel. It features a central polished turquoise marbled with matrix that appears to be quite stable. It has an angular starburst design with a wide bail that bears a 925 mark as well as Hebrew markings. The .835 silver chain is not original to the piece, but is of the period. An unusual and handsome 14K yellow gold tie bar designed as a Gothic-style strap hinge by Larter & Sons. When not being used to hold a tie in place, the piece could also be used as a money clip. A handsome pair of 14K yellow gold cufflinks in a classic barbell design. The larger front faces are star-set with small natural rubies. The stones have intense color that shows nicely against the gold. The connectors are marked "14K."

These stylish 1960’s design 14Kt yellow gold and cabochon coral earrings are from the famed San Francisco department store Gump’s. Each earring is centered by a 12 X 16 millimeter oval cabochon pale colored coral set in a bezel with double row rope frame, and omega backs.

This light lavender colored carved jade pendant is enhanced on either side by a flower shaped finding. The tapered movable bail is connected to the flower shaped decorations. A stunning pair of Victorian 18K yellow gold double-faced cufflinks, each face comprising a large oval mixed-cut rhodolite garnet set in a foliate-engraved border. The garnets have the lovely reddish-purple hue so prized in rhodolites. The faces are connected by chains and are fully hallmarked with French “tete d’aigle” hallmarks for 18K gold.

This is a magnificent French past pendant circa early 1800s. It is 2 1/2" tall and 1 7/8". It is in excellent condition. There are what appears to be 2 touch marks on this item which are completely unreadable to me.

An exceptional gilt filigree scarab bracelet marked on the box clasp LORAN SIM. The company was in production during the 50's-60's in Providence, RI. One link is attached to the filigree by a small thread.(It's very hard to discern, though one may want to have a jeweler resolder it.See photo with blue scarab.)Please refer to the carnelian scarab for internal cracks. The real stone scarabs measure 3/4" x 5/8"; the bracelet 7.5" x 1".

A cast rectangular top decorated with what look like applied and incised stylized scrollwork; the surface is textured and is unevenly oxidized. The sides exhibit clamp-like elements and the band shoulders bear engraved geometric designs. The band is flattened, and on the inside is marked with the German crown and moon, 800, and what looks like a worn maker’s mark. The style looks like transitional art deco/art modern; the ring is dated conservatively. It is sized at a 7. Weight: 5.9 grams
