This late 19th-century gunmetal chain has both length and strength, with a bold, stunning look. It features a secure spring-ring clasp and a glossy, blue-black finish, produced by electroplating a coating of iron over a white metal. The links are securely soldered, save for the end link, which may have had a jump ring. Unclasped, the chain measures 51 inches long.

Antique Peranakan or Straits Chinese silver belt, probably early 20th century. With its Aceh style Phoenix bird theme this belt was traditionally used by ladies at weddings and other festivities. Originally, this was the largest of a set of 3 graduated matching silver necklaces. They were worn as a set for festival by the Miao Chinese Ethnic Minority women. The necklace was skillfully hand-formed from a sheet of silver into a curving tapered tube with a reposse pattern of 2 dragons chasing pearl. It spans 10.5 inches across.
