A very pretty contemporary oil on canvas landscape of trees, a cluster of pink flowers in the left foreground, signed at lower right by California Art Club associate member DULCIE ADAMS. Biographical information seems to be lacking on this obviously talented artist. The work measures 18" by 24" (26 1/2" by 32" nicely framed). Painting is in excellent condition; linen liner has a small stain that could probably be removed.

Stanley Anderson
1884-1966
British
This is a rare early drypoint etching by British artist Stanley Anderson. The title is: Perivale, a small town outside of London. This etching was created and printed in 1911. The image measures 5 3/4X9 5/8 inches. Hand signed in pencil lower border and titled lower left border. Printed on a medium weight watermarked with initials, laid type sheet. Fine use of plate tone in the sky area.
Oil on canvas, unframed, 20" by 26", signed at lower right in red "R. MacDonald" and signed/titled/dated on reverse "R. MacDonald/Heat Wave/July 10 1937". The subject appears to be a young man, possibly African-American, holding a hose on a young child at right, a wooden house hidden partially by a huge tree in the background. The artist has painted a very American work, (and possibly southern, as well), squarely in the 1930's style...
Stephen Parrish, American, 1846-1938, "Fishery on the Dee". A very fine original etching by American artist Stephen Parrish, this image is one of three images Parrish created of Chester, a small walled town near Liverpool, England. The image size is 9 1/4 x 7 3/8 inches, 1884, state I/II, before the remarque in the lower margin, cat: Schneider- 107, pencil signed.
Watercolor painting of a scene that appears to be a youngster with adults at the entrance of a school, a total of five figures in the composition. The work, 13" by 10 1/4" (20" by 18" in a contemporary gold frame, no mat) is signed at lower center by well listed German artist CARL HUBNER (1814-1879). PAIR of watercolor on paper paintings, each 14 1/2" by 10 3/4" inside the satin mat, 23" by 19" as identically framed in goldish vintage frames with ornate tops, each signed by the California artist and fashion illustrator ESTHER WYNN, who passed away in 1990 according to recent information acquired from relatives. There is presently no askart listing for this artist but that could change. Wynn was a talented illustrator, often, of fashion design, and created designs for cards as well...
A turn of the century oil of red roses, signed at lower right "Myrtle Crittenden". There is a "Miss M. Crittenden" listed in Hughes' dictionary of California artists, and she was noted there to have exhibited at the California state fair in 1881. This painting came out of the Sacramento area, so, that makes sense. Not dated but likely dates to early 20th century when such works were still especially popular, as they had since Victorian times...
A very early watercolor landscape of a thicket and meadow at sunset, signed at lower left corner and dated there 1887 (or 1897?) by the noted Indiana artist JOHN ELWOOD BUNDY (1853-1933). The work, 5" by 8" (11 1/4" by 14 1/2" in frame) bears many color notations on the reverse, likely in the artist's handwriting, giving us some insight into the creative process. The scene is very peaceful and calming, showing us day's end...

An interesting painting of a brick church dramatically positioned in a rural landscape with distant mountains, the year 1898 appearing on the lintel over the door, signed at lower right corner "K. Shuck". Online research shows there was a Kenneth M. Shuck associated with the Springfield Museum of Art, having served as its second director, between 1951 and 1976. A 1954 photo online shows him standing in front of a Thomas Hart Benton painting. This may be by that individual...

A truly beautiful circa 1890 print of elegant Parisians strolling past and perusing the famous Bouquiniste bookstalls along the banks of the Seine River, not signed in plate nor in pencil but certainly by a listed or even important and well-known artist. To date, reverse image searches and other internet research have, frustratingly, not revealed the identity of that artist. There are no watermarks...

A PAIR of watercolor paintings of classic scenes of Montmartre, each 8 3/8" by 10 3/8" (and each 15" by 17 1/2" as identically framed), each signed at lower left by French artist AMEDEE PREVOST. One work features the white Sacre Coeur church dome in the distance, figures and an artist completing the scene, the other work featuring a street easel artist painting a picturesque old house. Prevost does not seem to have a biography online, but a work dated 1897 would indicate a birth date of at lea...
Oil on unusual crimped/bent metal tin panels, each extensive landscape painting measuring 5 1/2" by 9 1/2" and about 1 1/2" margin all around, each signed at bottom in red "H. ROUX". These are beautifully painted works of the nineteenth century by an apparently listed Swiss artist. The pair has some scratches and small abrasions in a few spots, and one has a scratched area at top extending into the gold margin; but, these flaws are not so significant as to affect the overall impression. No do...
PAIR of old watercolor paintings of ceramic and metal objects on table tops in an interior, the first 21" by 28" framed, the second 19" by 24" framed, the larger work signed at lower right by European (French?) artist Joanny Rec. These are beautifully executed fine watercolors in excellent condition. I have found little information on the artist after an extensive online search. The name suggests a Belgian or French nationality, I would think, but I would not rule out another. The vases, pl...
