Haku Maki (1924 to 2000) was an important late 20th Century Japanese printmaker. He created images often using kanji (originally: Chinese characters) as the theme for his prints. Maki's Emanation series may well have been 100 different images. This is an early one. It shows a young man ready to grope a woman’s breasts. Who is the man and who is the woman? Adam and Eve? Maki and his wife? Maki and another woman? It measures 16" x 16". Here I show images of the current emanation and single images of other prints in the Emanation series. The last frame is Emanation 100.

In 1990 Haku Maki produced as many as 6 different images of famed Mt Fuji(Fuji-san). Here are three, each one printed from a different block.

If the Master could do a Seat series in the 1960s he must have decided to do a Sink series in 1972. First, it did a small image in 1972 and then he ended the year with a larger image depicting the same sink theme. It is the one pictured here, Poem 72-61 Sink-S. It measures 9.75sq in.

This is a very unusual American portrait of a lady. The painting is oil on canvas mounted loosly on a cardboard with tacks. The painting is done in a many layered style which is similar to the style of Albert Pinkham Ryder (1847-1917). It is marked in pencil on the back Ms. Pitts. This is one of three research notes that were numbered 23. This one is about Work 73-2, a Maki homage to a 19th-century Chinese writer. Dan Tretiak wrote: Enigma. The original eBay seller wrote this in his listing. He really got it right. Maki’s print has the four-character phrase as done by Deng in his writing in the 19th century We confirm Deng and Maki were in sync. The arrangement of Maki’s gold seal is more used in Chinese than Japanese. In any case ENJOY

The Marble Sculpture measures 18" tall x 9" at the base. This appears to be a Sculpture by Constantin Brancusi.(1876-1957). This Sculpture was purchased from an Estate in Highland Park in Dallas, Texas. It was used as a decoration for a private pool at that particular Estate. This Abstract Sculpture is not signed.
