A rare print from a series partially based on Hiroshige I's series (Famous Views of the 60-odd Provinces). This particular view by his protege is not based on a Hiroshige I work.

Magnificent 19th Century standing Mandalay Buddha, wood with lacquer patina and gilding, standing on a lotus flower socle. The slender body wears an elaborate monk's garment. Fine workmanship including a beautiful turquoise headband (rarely found) and silver colored glass inlays on the borders of the flowing robe and the lotus pedestal. The Buddhas's left hand clasps his robe, the right one holds a myrobalan fruit. Very good condition considering the age...

Around 1960 Haku Maki probably did the Ox as a woodblock print. He was then a young artist in Tokyo. He may have done some Ox images before James Michener did his now wellknown book, but probably not many: 510 were used in the book The Modern Japanese Print". The Marble Sculpture measures 18" tall x 9" at the base. This appears to be a Sculpture by Constantin Brancusi.(1876-1957). This Sculpture was purchased from an Estate in Highland Park in Dallas, Texas. It was used as a decoration for a private pool at that particular Estate. This Abstract Sculpture is not signed. More information will be added later.
