“Paysage Provencal” Oil on canvas 19.7” x 25.6” w/o frame Gaston Sebire was born in Saint-Samson, Normandy, France, August 18, 1920. He attended School in Rouen, then entered the postal service, working at night and devoting himself to painting during the day. His first big break came in 1953, when he won the honorable job of designing the costumes and decorations of L'Ange gris, a ballet written by Claude Debussy for the Marquis of Cuevas...

The strokes in this print are "U", no meaning. This is an early print using Hiragana. It is two brush strokes piercing the space, leaving a trace of itself before coming to the bottom of the paper. It has but one splash across the top and a red tear along the side and then: Whoosh it goes as in the red image at the bottom. There is one sun at the outer edge of the stroke and two moons inside the curving stroke. Not so simple after all.

A striking miniature portrait painting on organic material, finely painted by John Ramage. The sitter, a gentleman elegantly attired in the height of late 18th century fashion, is wearing a white shirt with a ruffled white cravat and a brick-red coat over a brown-striped vest.

The condition of the painting is superb, with no flaws whatsoever, as is that of the later case. Sight size is 1 5/8" by 1 1/4", and the case size is 1 3/4" by 1 1/2"...

A beautiful and finely painted miniature portrait painting, done in watercolor on natural material, by Thomas Seir Cummings. The sitter is a very attractive woman wearing an academic or possibly a cleric gown, and a white lace and blue material cap. The frame, which is later, is a beautiful burl wood.

This fine sculpture is by the diverse and talented Ernesto Montenegro. Titled "Crosswalk," it displays pedestrians walking across the street. In the period 1966-67, Haku Maki did two large series with Song as the theme. There was Flower Song, a series of 10 prints. And there was Animal Song which was Maki’s Asian Zodiac series, with 12 images. It was also a small series with small editions--50 in the case of Animal Song (released in Kyoto, so very hard to find: only one friend has the full set), I do not know who has the full set of Flower Song. A beautifully limned miniature portrait painting by Elkanah Tisdale. The sitter, though unknown, is a handsome young man dressed in a black coat. The painting measures 3" by 2", and is in superb condition, with no chips, cracks, bowing, paint loss, or restoration. It is housed in a later metal case.

Few miniatures by Tisdale are known to exist, and with very rare exception, are, as is the case here, unsigned.

This in a nice example of his work in a new mat and frame. Sight size of pastel 12 by 16 inches (30 by 40 cm) frame size 19 3/8 by 23 3/8 inches (49 by 59 cm).

Anatole Henri de Beaulieu, French, 1819-1884. This stunning and exotic painting is a wonderful example of the barbizon school in France. It is oil on canvas signed lower left in a very wide impressive 19th c original frame. It is 48.5" W by 27.5" H and framed is 65.5" W by 44.5" H. It appears to be a sunset scene in the orientalist manner of the 19th C, probably a scene in northern Africa. His paintings sell for up to $80,000.
