**One of two works by the artist in my shop**, this is an oil on board painting of what appear as houses, rendered in rich colors, and in a firmly modernist style. The painting measures 11 1/2" by 14 1/2" and 15" by 18 1/2" in early gold framing. The work is signed at lower left in the paint. On the reverse side is a fragment, in poor condition, of another painting the artist evidently executed...

A circa 1950 artistic black and white photo of the docks at Monterey, California, pencil signed on the mount as "Edna S Deuren" or similar. The gentlemen standing at left with fedoras and cap are looking down on the small fishing craft at a time when Monterey's fishing industry was in high gear. Measurements are 9 1/4" by 7 1/4" (photo itself) and 20 1/2" by 17" as framed. Condition is very good.

PAIR of watercolor paintings of colorful flowers, including iris, Jack-in-the-Pulpit, and asters, one of the drawings dated "7.07.07" at lower left, unsigned, each measuring 20" by 13" inside the mat, 28 3/4" by 23 1/2" in the modern day gold frames. The quality of the drawings is excellent. Most certainly these floral studies are by an accomplished hand. They have survived a century in excellent condition...

An example of a lithograph print after the famous 1924 painting "Dempsey and Firpo" by the highly important American artist GEORGE BELLOWS (1882-1925). The print is apparently not from the artist and printer-signed edition of 103 which brings upwards of $25,000 when offered at auction. This appears to be a later, posthumous example. The image measurements are 17 3/8" by 21 3/8" (sheet 17 3/4" by 21 3/4") and 25 1/2" by 29" framed...

One of an edition of only 50, a scarce to rare lithograph of the year 1912, "The Jungle", signed and titled at lower right margin in pencil by the important American etcher, illustrator, critic, author and teacher JOSEPH PENNELL (1857-1926). The print measures 20" by 23" and the frame is about an inch wide on a side...

This is a charming antique watercolor, signed at lower right "Vl. Titelbach", and dated there 1884, the subject a celebratory procession of country folk complete with ox-drawn wagons, horse, drums, pistol being fired in the air and other quaint details. The work is on old browned paper, and it measures 14" by 21" inside the mat. There is no glass (I discarded it---was cracked when this was found, in southern Maine). Presently it is housed only in a simple modern metal frame...

PAIR of gouache paintings on paper, unframed, each 19 3/4" by 25 1/2", both signed by listed French mid century artist GERARD CABUS (born 1926). One appears to be dated 1967. Cabus was very active in the late 1950's through the 1960's, producing abstract compositions and other works in oil and watercolor. His biography is scant, but it does appear that major Paris galleries in the early 1960's gave him one man exhibitions, and some works have appeared at auction in France...

Oil on canvas painting of a trellis and a patio, lots of flowers and impressionistically depicted leaves filling the composition, 24" by 36", unframed, signed at lower right "ED CORDEZ". No listed artist by this name comes up in any net searches I've made so I will consider this a fine work by a talented though unlisted artist. It was probably executed within the past twenty years. Condition is excellent. You'll easily find a standard size 24" by 36" frame to complement the work.

For the collector of art featuring the cat, here is a fine good-sized drawing of two cats, apparently unsigned, but, I think, there's a high likelihood that the artist would be someone listed. The drawing diameter is 18 1/2", the work diameter as framed is 29 3/4". If you look closely you can see that the artist assembled a number of sheets of paper on which to work---you can see the lines where they meet...

Watercolor and white gouache highlighting on heavy paper landscape, 7 3/4" by 10 1/4", unframed (an early ruled mat with handwritten title and "19th CENTy." surrounds it), unsigned, the subject a hilly location in India (possibly a "hill station" in the foothills of the Himalayas). Note the fine detail including structures, tall skinny palms, a flag pole, etc. This probably dates to the 1860's or 1870's, and was likely executed by an English artist traveling through the region at the time...

Oil on canvas still life painting of fruit arrangement including purple and yellow grapes, a pear, apple, plums, and currants, a small bird's nest with two blue eggs at far left. The painting is signed at lower right with a monogram that appears as "GB" or "GBT" or a combination of those. The work is definitely of the 19th century, but it is difficult to be certain as to whether it be of English or American origin...

Watercolor on heavy paper painting of horses among a stand of flaming yellow cottonwood trees in late autumn, 13 1/2" by 19 1/4" (25" by 31" as nicely framed in quality wood distressed style frame), signed in pencil at lower right by American artist PAMELA MASON (1916-2000). The scene was likely painted in the vicinity of Boulder, Colorado in the 1960's, according to the son of the artist, who created a beautiful and comprehensive legacy website featuring her work...

Original lithograph print, 13 1/2" by 10" inside the innermost of three mats, 21 1/4" by 17 1/2" as framed, the title "Le Ballet: Daphnis et Chloe", printed by Atelier Mourlot, 1969, in an edition of 10,000, as included in Drawings and Watercolors for The Ballet by Jacques Lassaigne, published in 1969 by Tudor Publishing. This is classic Chagall imagery, poetic and dream-like. Note the pipe-playing goat at lower left...

This is a really pretty watercolor on heavy watercolor paper by an obvious talent, 14" by 20" (22 1/2" by 28 1/4" as framed), the subject picturesque boats tied up along the banks of an idyllic stretch of river, a boathouse at left and a few figures completing the impressionist composition...

Watercolor on paper landscape painting of a large body of water, possibly a river, with rickety wooden docks in the foreground and a few small boats in the sun glare off the water, 9 3/4" by 12 3/4" (13 1/2" by 16 1/2" in pleasing gold frame), signed at lower right "Minn Thein" and dated there 2001. This watercolor likely hails from Myanmar (Burma), as the name is commonly encountered in that nation. This might be the Irrawaddy River that winds through the country. Condition is excellent and ...

This is an original lithograph by the famous French artist MARC CHAGALL (1887-1985), titled "Le Clown Fleuri" (Clown with Flowers), 1963, from "Lithographes Originales de Marc Chagall", printed by Mourlot. There was a signed (1962) edition with margins, and examples sell between $6,000 and $12,000 at auction (size significantly larger). This appears to be from the unsigned 1963 edition of 2,000 examples, which were of this smaller size. The colors are fresh and the work is in fine condition,...

Watercolor of a classic English church, the Holy Trinity Church, in the park-like autumnal setting of world-famous Stratford-upon-Avon, the home of everything Shakespeare, of course. The final resting places of Shakespeare and Ann Hathaway are actually in this church. The water which appears as a small pond or lake is the River Avon. PAIR of circa 1880 oil landscapes on panel, each 10 1/4" by 18 3/4" (15 3/4" by 24 1/2" in modern frames). The images of lakeside castles are classic 19th century European art. Small sail boats, feathery trees and ancient stone bridges complete the scenes. Each is signed with monogram like "A M" or "S M". I considered these might be by the famed German painter Adolph Menzel but think that unlikely. The old beveled wood panels on which they are painted likely date to the 1880's or thereabou...
