A circa turn of the century oil on canvas painting of a creek and surrounding woods in the autumn of the year, 11 1/2" by 22 1/2", on canvas, and 17 1/2" by 29" in likely original frame, apparently unsigned. The work has survived over a century in excellent condition. No punctures or problems. There are a few chips missing from the frame. A pleasing, easy to live with scene that brings a sense of calm and reflection.

Unusual watercolor of what appears to be a wagon on the plains, piled high with rocks perhaps, and, even, the skull of a buffalo, signed at lower right "P. PARSONS '96". The watercolor is on paper and measures 8 1/2" by 18 3/4" (15 1/4" by 25 1/4" as framed). The work is in excellent condition with no foxing visible. I do not see an obvious listing for the artist. Found in San Diego area. Recently, on the east coast, I saw a watercolor coastal scene signed in the same manner.

This is an elegant etching in grays and black on heavy white paper (or possibly could be considered an aquatint with etching I believe), the sheet measuring 29 1/2 " by 21 1/2", in a narrow modern simple frame, crisply pencil signed by the artist, with a Chinese symbol resembling a traditional artist's stamp at lower right (possibly for the word "Ping") and numbered 41/110 at lower left, and titled "Life" in English and presumably Chinese, at lower left center...

Oil on canvas, 24" by 36" (33" by 45" as framed), signed at lower left "Cantrell". This is a good sized oil of a peaceful scene with tree and a house against the setting sun. I date the work to the 1970's or 1980's. Condition good with some light craquelure and very slight dimpling, but no holes. The frame upper left corner is separating just a little bit.

Acrylic on canvas, 23" by 35" plus 5/8" wide black simple frame, signed on reverse with what could be "Tamworth" or "Ramworth" plus copyright symbol (unsigned on front). This is an op-art type piece with a definite three dimensionality to it.......the dots "float" over the rest of the pattern, casting "shadows".......it's quite the contemporary work and would look great in any modern setting. If anyone can identify the artist, please let me know...

Oil on canvas painting, 30" by 20", unframed, of two deer in a silent forest of towering redwoods, shafts of light penetrating to the forest floor, signed twice at lower left by the noted Northern California artist CHARLES DORMON ROBINSON (1847-1933). This is a classic old painting of the northern part of the Golden State, by one of its most appreciated historical painters. Robinson was born in Maine but was in San Francisco during the Gold Rush days...

An elegant, impressive, impressionist painting on canvas of a park scene with figures, signed at lower right by listed Polish artist TADEUSZ ROMAN (1906-1993). The 28" by 31 1/4" work (33 1/2" by 37" nicely framed) features an elegant, monochromatic, subdued palette for the most part, but the artist has chosen to feature intense bright color in the various figures, thereby creating a simply beautiful and artistic work that borrows from the "Ecole de Paris"...

A surrealistic oil on canvasboard scene of dream-like bizarre figures, several of which have fish-like characteristics, 11" by 14" (15 1/4" by 18 1/4" in attractive older frame), signed at lower right corner "Victor Brauner" and dated below "25.3.1949". The work is offered as in the style or manner of highly important Romanian-born artist Victor Brauner (1903-1966)...

By the hand of early Plein Air master artist GEORGE KENNEDY BRANDRIFF (1890-1936), a small but pretty and highly impressionistic painting, "San-Bernardino--Mt. Baldy", circa late 1920's. The oil on canvas laid on board measures 10 1/4" by 12" (15" by 16 1/2" in contemporary gold frame). The artist's estate stamp signature appears at lower left; on the reverse is written in old hand "Brandriff/San Bernardino"; and the rectangular David & Sons estate stamp for Brandriff is at left...

Roux-Champion 1944). The drawing is a work of noted French artist VICTOR JOSEPH ROUX-CHAMPION (1871-1953). Condition is excellent with fresh colors and no water damage or foxing. The artist's works are offered at auction in England and the Continent.

Lithograph on paper of a clipper ship, 12 1/4" by 9 1/2", unframed, signed by the noted marine illustrator, painter and etcher/lithographer GORDON HOPE GRANT (1875-1962). Grant was born in San Francisco but is associated with the northeastern part of the country, his marine paintings and lithographs now eagerly sought out by dealers and collectors...

For the collector of rare, and desirable early Florida art: a watercolor painting titled in pencil lower left "Old Spanish House/St. Augustine", dated 1881, apparently not signed. The work, paper laid on a board, measures 9 3/4" by 13 3/4". An early 20th century 13 1/2" by 17 1/2" frame (not shown) accompanies the watercolor. On the reverse side of the board in modern times someone wrote "Attributed to William Turner Dannat" but this is highly unlikely...

For the aficionado of equine art, this is a beautifully composed watercolor and ink drawing of polo horses and players, signed at lower right by listed Arizona woman artist ALICE LORD MARSHALL (1895-1993). The work measures 11 1/2" by 15 1/2" inside the mat and 18 1/2" by 23" as framed...

Oil on canvas landscape with a home and small out building, possibly but not at all necessarily a California scene, measuring 10" by 14" (12 1/4" by 16 1/4" as framed), signed at lower right (I think in ink) "....... E. Miller" and dated there '32. The actual first part of the signature is difficult to read, but on the stretcher in pencil is written "E. E. Miller". I do not see any listing for this artist, but, as is often the case, the lack of a listing does not mean the artist wasn't talente...
