Japanese limited edition copperplate etching titled “Kyoto #7: Kozan-ji” by Tanaka Ryohei (1933-2019). Pencil-signed, dated '96, and numbered 141/150 in the lower margin. The title in kanji is at the bottom left margin. Paper: 11 5/8" x 10 1/4" (image: 6 3/8" x 8"). Very good overall condition with a possible faintly visible smudge in the upper left margin corner. There are a few distressed fibers on the back, but the print does not appear to have been previously framed.

Washington DC artist Paco Lane,known for his constant pushing forward of styles and from the Lane brother and sister artist family. This work is from his cubist period that was short lived. Measuring 53”x60” Paco Jacques Lane was born on October 24, 1969 in Virginia just outside of Wash- ington DC. From an early childhood Paco was encouraged The artist in Greenwich CT, 2003. and allowed great freedom to pursue a natural interest in the visual arts...

Oil on canvas, unframed, 15 3/4" by 11 3/4", unsigned, the subject a colorful Indonesian or Chinese traditional dancer in elaborate costume, complete with extra long fingernails and fierce-looking mask. The work was likely executed in the past twenty years or so. A Chinese ad for cigarettes is used as backing paper (a tear in that). This is a most decorative piece that took a long time to create.

This is a monotype (generally considered an original work, the artist creating the art on a glass or metal surface which is then pressed against paper to create the final image---usually only one impression is made, so while some consider this a print, others might feel it is unique work). The artist, Pat Berger of Los Angeles (signed in pencil in margin and label on reverse) has been an active member of the art community in Southern California for many years...

In 1960 Maki did the image shown. It is called Symbol. In all the years of collecting Maki prints and images I have never seen this one again. It is quite large but seems cluttered. Forty years later he did it as a print and a post card even as one friend has suggested he did the print before 1999, the date on the print. The seals are authentic not printed, and they are original Maki seals from well-used chops.

Done in 1992, Poem 5 is a very stylized take on the kanji for woman女. Maki did many, many versions of woman. All of them are interesting, most of them striking. To me, this dramatic rendering strays the furthest from the actual character. Daniel Tretiak called this a Square Woman. This was done using the silkscreen process; it is not an embossed woodblock print. It measures 11.5in x 11.5 in.

This masterwork by Paco Lane is the highlight of his cubist or Picasso period that began after his sojourn to a great exhibition by the artist. A poster for the February 1992 Aspen Art Museum exhibition of the works of the highly regarded American contemporary artist, FRANK STELLA (1936-), measuring 34" by 23". The image is of a 1990 painted aluminum sculpture that was included in the exhibition. Stella hand signed the poster with blue felt tip marker at lower right. The artist needs little introduction, to those who follow contemporary American art...

This silkscreen offering is said by some to depict Kabuki make-up. It is 8sq inches and in excellent condition. See picture 4, the title, where Maki seems to have written Kuma 92/--his numeral 1 was usually a straightforward vertical 1.
