An interesting marriage of Japanese kirigami or "kirie" art, (paper intricately cut to a lace-like appearance, that finished work, in this example, a crane standing in water, and surrounded by pine trees) and a circa 1885 American Eastlake style gold and black frame. The paper art measures 5 1/2" by 5", and the entire framed piece 15" by 13 1/2". The kirigami has been laid against a green-blue crushed velvet type surface, creating an interesting effect...

Joseph Pennell, American, 1857-1926, "Trinity Church, From the River". This Joseph Pennell etching measures 11 3/4 x 8 3/8 inches, pencil signed, 1904, cat: Wuerth 324, probably in an edition of 25. In the tradition of Victorian rose paintings of the late 19th and early 20th century, here is an unframed work, canvas laid on board, 11 1/2" by 21 1/2", signed at lower right "IDMAY". The painting likely dates to the early years of the 20th century, a time when young girls were encouraged to take up the "ladylike" skill of flower painting. "IDMAY" might have been Ida Mae----one of these young ladies. Our artist was of average skill, but her handiwork has outlived her...

This is an antique painting of a rose in a tall glass vase, 13 1/2" by 5 3/8" framed, unsigned, circa 1900. Found in Rockland, Maine. The work, being of an unusual shape, might be that perfect addition to your narrow little space. There is wear on frame and the painting has even light soiling consistent with its age.
