Oval portrait miniature of a young woman; watercolor, signed indistinctly. She is wearing a lace and floral trimmed bonnet, braids coiled over her ears, pearls and a ruched off the shoulder rose dress, all typical of the 1840’s.

Alphonse Legros 1837-1911 French This is an original drypoint etching by French artist Alphonse Legros (1837-1911) The title of this work is: La Ferme De Labbaye (farm at the monastery) Created and printed circa 1880, this image measures 8 1/2X11 1/8 inches. Hand signed and titled in pencil. Printed on a medium weight wove type paper with a partial watermark.

A beautiful miniature portrait of a young man, done by William Egley. The painting is in a stickpin mounted elaborate gold case, with engraving on the reverse identifying the sitter as "John McDonnell Webb/August 1839". A plait of hair is in the glazed rear aperture.

Both the painting and case are in excellent condition, with no issues. The spots in the photos are due to external dust...

Printed on Holland Paper, This printing had the addresses of:" Cadart and Luquet Editeurs, 79 Rue St Jacques 303 Paris" A rich impression, Catalog Delteil 6 II/III. Framed, previously sold by Kennedy Galleries in New York. The image size measures 11 1/4X8 1/2 inches.

From our European Collection, a wonderful signed and dated (1860) oil on canvas entitled "The Offering" by British genre painting master John Bagnold Burgess (1830-1897). Burgess was a well -accomplished painter of the mid-late 19th century, regarded as highly in his own time, as he is nowadays. He was nominated to membership of the Royal Academy in 1889, where he had over 70 paintings displayed from about 1850 all the way through to his death in 1897...

This is an original Currier and Ives lithograph print, frame opening 10" by 8" (total frame 14 1/2" by 12 1/2"), titled "Little Snowbird", from the 1860's, in a nineteenth century typical American walnut frame with gilt fillet.
