Artist: ALFONSO IANNELLI (1886-1965)….. Alfonso Iannelli (February 17, 1888 – March 23, 1965) was an Italian-American sculptor, artist, and industrial designer. Based in Chicago for most of his life, Iannelli was born in Andretta, Italy on February 17, 1888. He came to America in 1898. He studied to be a sculptor under Gutzon Borglum, later famous for Mount Rushmore. From 1910 to 1915, he designed posters for the vaudeville acts appearing at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles...

Drawing on paper executed in soft pencil, 7" by 8 1/4", essentially unframed (in a protective frame only), the subject an arid desert landscape butte under a crescent moon, the drawing signed at lower left "ARCH SINCLAIR". There is a listing for an Archie Sinclair (1895-), a student of Henry Keller. Sinclair is listed in many reference works. He is said to be associated with Oregon, so, this might be a scene from the dry eastern part of that state. Evidently he worked in the east as well...

A beautiful pair of miniature portraits, both signed Fuger, painted in watercolors on organic material. In addition, the elaborate frames are made out of this same natural material, something rarely, if ever, seen. This is an example of Haku Maki’s production of small prints that were known as San Mon Ban. These prints were usually 2in x 2in but there were instances of larger ones. This one measures 6in x 6in. Dan Tretiak writes that Haku Maki began creating San Mon Ban in early 1975, a set of seven volumes of small prints. For some he used themes from the past, others were new themes that he used again and again in succeeding years. A small rendering for collectors to add to their holdings.
