Oil on canvas painting of a marketplace in a Sumatran landscape, unframed, 15 3/4" by 21 1/2", signed at lower right by Indonesian impressionist artist MUSLIM SALEH (1927-). This signature was difficult to decipher but a little research on the net established the identity of the artist. He was born in West Sumatra and learned from Japanese painters during the World War II occupation years. Subsequently he participated in the Indonesian Revolution...
Pastel and charcoal on gray paper, 17 1/2" by 11 1/2" (20" by 14" in wood frame), signed at lower right with conjoined initials "VG", which corresponds to the name of the artist Vinnie Gjere. I was able to figure out the authorship due to there being a companion piece on my site, also a still life and purchased at the same time as this one; that piece is not signed on the front but on the reverse in pencil is "Vinnie Gjere"...

Watercolor and gouache on paper, 4 1/2" by 12 1/4", (10" by 17 3/4" in modern framing), apparently unsigned, but I believe likely by a member of the talented and prolific GIANNI Italian painter family. There are a number of painters going under the name "Gianni", possibly from the same family. Many works of such southern Italian scenes are signed M. Gianni, others Y. Gianni...
Pencil drawing on paper signed "M.C" at lower right, 5 5/8" by 4" (13" by 10 1/2" as framed), the subject a sketchy topless Bali female nude. This is a work of major Mexican artist MIGUEL COVARRUBIAS (1904-1957). There is a collector stamp at lower left which I believe can be researched in the Lugt book of collector stamps...
Female portrait from the Court of Louis XV, by Antoine Coypel circa. 1715, oil on canvas, framed, 29” x 34”
Comment: One of the ‘great beauties’ from the Court of Louis XV. Louis XV was the grandson of Louis XIV, known as Louis the Great or the Sun King who reigned of 72 years and 110 days is the longest of any sovereign. This painting is an example of the glorification of powerful and importance of women during the mid 18th Century in France...
Stated "One of twenty" prints by illustrator and children's book publisher. Helena Chase Johnson. The print is also marked "For Norman" along with her signature. An interesting note -- Chase owned The Little Hotel by the Sea (located at the Grande Colonial Hotel in La Jolla, Calif.) The hotel boasted of having a beautiful six-passenger mahogany elevator, making it "The Littlest Hotel in the World with an Elevator."

Oil on canvas, 21" by 26" (26" by 31" as framed), the subject a winter landscape with coniferous trees in the background, a small unfrozen lake completing the scene. This is an impressionistic work by a nicely listed painter, the works of whom appear with frequency at auctions in Finland.
