A nicely crafted oil on wood panel painting of an ancient castle or coastal fortification, likely Italy, signed at lower left "Tiboni". The piece measures 7" by 11" (13" by 16 1/4" nicely framed). The work was likely created in the 1950's or 1960's. Written in pencil on reverse is "70 Pounds" (actually, symbol for British Pounds). A light cleaning would be beneficial but not mandatory. The piece is of a nice size that would fit many smaller walls.

A small etching, 5 1/4" by 4" (13 1/2" by 10 1/2" in wood frame) featuring the famous familiar front view of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, the foreground including the famous bookstalls and a number of figures, signed in the plate (in reverse) "Slanska" and with penciled "Eau-fort original/Slanska" in the lower margin. A well painted oil on board landscape of green fields in the foreground and a tan one in the distance with a group of trees on the left under a cloudy blue sky. The frame is a molded gilt frame. It is a good size; 19 inches tall by 21 ½ inches wide. With frame it is 26 ½ inches by 24 inches.

Condition is excellent with a recent cleaning and new frame.

This wonderful print was a gift to Daniel Tretiak and me on the occasion of our wedding in June 1964.

Antique original lithograph of a standing nude by Julius John Pommer (American, 1895-1945). This wonderful nude dates from the thirties. It is dedicated l.l. and pencil signed l.r. Offered framed. Pommer was born in San Francisco and studied at the CSFA under Otis Oldfield. He was active in the Federal Arts Project in the thirties. Well listed (cf. Askart, Edan Hughes "Artists in California", etc.

As Haku Maki aficionados know, Maki did many prints depicting the kanji for ox or bull. This one, Z-200b, is one of his great bulls. One of a small edition of 75, it is 12.5 in wide X 19in high. The print, created in 1999, is in excellent condition. For another wonderful example of Maki's ox-making, see Item#1452034 below--a brilliant Big Red ox.

For the den or man cave of the fly fisherman, here is a rustic painting on plywood panel of a trout leaping to catch what appears to be a large yellow moth or butterfly flitting just above the water's surface. The painting is actually titled "Butterfly" at bottom center. At right corner is the name of the artist, W. L. Mohl or Mahl, and "White Pine Pk. 1939". There is a "White Pine Peak" in both Utah and Nevada. This was found in Fresno, in central California...
