An oil on canvasboard painting of the California desert, painted in unusually pastel-y color palette, signed at lower left by artist Alzira Maria. The piece, 22" by 28" (28" by 34" framed) features an almost Cubist handling in the distant mountains, reminding of artists such as Andrew Dasburg. The painting is clean and wall-ready. Frame is attractive distressed wood style, and liner and gold fillet are in good condition.

In the style of famous American abstractionist Sam Francis (1923-1994) is this abstract oil (acrylic?) on canvas "splatter" or "drip" painting, unframed, 25" by 23 1/2", unsigned. The work appears to have some age, to perhaps the 1970's. Note the width of the stretcher (almost two inches). The painting is very clean and would make a smashing decorative work for the most modern of interiors...

Watercolor on quality watercolor heavy paper, 14 3/4" by 20" (18 3/4" by 24" as framed), the scenes a tropical street with historic old wood houses, likely Key West, Florida, and another street scene with a lone figure, signed in pencil at lower right something like "Meish...." or "Weish....."; I cannot decipher the name. The aritist probably created this in the 1960's or 1970's, and he or she was skilled with watercolor. The brush strokes are brisk but expertly placed. Condition is excellent...

One of Maki’s favorite themes was the image shown here. Some outstanding ones are shown in the listing. I reckon Maki did about 25 different prints with the theme Child. Several little children can be seen swimming in the image in frame 9. The child in the right of this list panel is the image imprinted in the cover of Festive Wine, to which Maki contributed 21 images in 1969.

Sunday in Nice by Glenn Pizer, Framed Oil on Canvas, 28 x 23". Frame Size 36" x 28”…… Glenn Pizer American Master Artist is known for his visit colors in masterful compositions, and has been painting for over 30 years. He is originally from the Washington DC area. His work is modern and cubist in respect to his use of jagged lines reminiscent of Clifford Still.

Often confused with artist Lawrence NELSON Wilbur (both auction records and biography almost hopelessly intermingled), this is an oil on canvas impressionist still life painting by the illustrator, Lawrence Wilbur (1897-1960). This listed artist was active in the New York City and Northern New Jersey area at mid century as an illustrator, landscapist, and portraitist. He signed typically with the oblique line below his name, as is seen here...

Oil on canvas painting of waves breaking on the beach at sunset, (titled on reverse "Fading Sun"), measuring 16" by 20" unframed, signed at lower right by artist CARYL WOOD, the wife of famed landscape painter Robert Wood. Caryl was an amateur painter when she met the already famous Robert Wood in 1953 after he sustained serious injuries when hit by a car on Pacific Coast Highway. The couple married and Robert instructed her in painting, taking her along on painting trips...

During the 1970s, Haku Maki liked occasionally to do haniwa, depictions of terracotta figures that were funerary objects used during the 3rd to 6th centuries in Japan. This one—71-2—is a face rather than a complete figure. Created in 1971, the print is 50 of an edition of 151. It measures 5.75in x 8.5in. The print is in very good condition, with faint tape residue on the two top corners of the back, with no impact on the face.

First edition Japanese woodblock print, large Oban 9.5” x 12.5”, of “Owl” by Iwao Akiyama. Printed on handmade paper, it is numbered 130/200, and dated 1973. Measures including frame 12” x 15”. Note: Color is excellent, any variations is from reflections in the glass.

The print is a restrike, likely made from the original plates at some point after the artist's death. By the hand of one of the masters of 20th century Japanese printmaking is this woodblock on paper, 14 1/4" by 19" (21 1/2 by 25 3/4" framed), signed in pencil at lower right by the artist within the image area, and bearing inscriptions in Japanese in the margin at lower left and lower right. The image is a traditional temple garden in winter, a light snow covering the lanterns and roof, and apparently wilted flowers killed by the cold unable to lift their heads...
