A magnificent early twentieth century Mohgal portrait with center figure and hunting scenes done in watercolor measuring 36x23”

Etching on paper of the New York City elevated train line known popularly as "The L", as in "elevated line", and so titled ("The L - 23rd St. N.Y.") in a separate window in the mat, the primary image area 12 3/4" by 9 1/2", 21 1/2" by 17 1/4" as framed, signed at lower right in pencil, bearing the inscription "For Mr. Paul G. Sprunk from H. Van Notti--1923", and numbered "6" at lower left margin. The scene depicted is familiar urban scenery to any New Yorker or New York visitor...

Oil on canvas, 18" by 12 1/2", unframed, signed at lower right "F M Shane", and inscribed on reverse of the canvas, "Loveland Canon/Road to Estes Park/Colorado/1925". This work is somewhat primitive but the artist has created an interesting painting. There is a listed artist Frederick Emmanuel Shane (1906-1992), a Missouri regionalist who also painted in Colorado; conceivably this could be an early work of that artist, for some reason signed "F M Shane"...

Pencil signed (with the cypher) etching, 1928, the titel "Old St. Michael's, Charleston". The artist is noted American artist ALFRED HEBER HUTTY (1877-1954). Hutty was born in Michigan and as a youth lived in Kansas City and St. Louis, where he attended art school. In 1907 he moved to Woodstock, New York, where, along with George Bellows, he founded the Woodstock art colony, with which he was associated until the end of his life...

A color print of the year 1930, issued by Frost and Reed of Bristol and London, titled "The Pytchley Huntsman--Frank Freeman on Pilot", after a painting by the famous English equestrian artist ALFRED JAMES MUNNINGS (1878-1959), measuring 20" by 19 3/4" inside the existing linen mat and 31" by 30 1/2" in the wood framing. The print is NOT pencil signed. Munnings is perhaps the pre-eminent painter of all things horses, at least among 20th century artists...

Arthur J.T. Briscoe 1873-1943 British This is a fine original etching by British marine artist Arthur Briscoe. The title is: The Main Brace, created and printed in 1929. The image measures 13 11/16X9 15/16 inches, printed on an antique wove type sheet. It is hand signed with pen and ink and also numbered 39/75. " This view of men hauling in on the brace while at the same time keeping their balance in the heeling ship as a spray sweeps over the weather rail."

A 9" by 13" watercolor painting (15" by 19" framed) of a river bounded by vegetation several ducks swimming picturesquely at lower right, signed at lower left by the noted historian and author Edgar Mayhew Bacon (1855-1935) of Tarrytown, New York. The work is titled on an old Hudson Valley Art Exhibition exhibition label "Ashley River, Near Charleston S.C. $35.00". Bacon was a noted historian and author...

Oil on canvas laid on board painting of San Juan Capistrano mission in Orange County, California, 5" by 5", 7" by 12 1/4" in period pie crust frame. Written in pencil in old hand on the tattered framing paper is "San Capistrano Mission". Although unsigned, the handling, subject matter and color palette are unquestionably of the hand of the noted California prolific painter RICHARD DETREVILLE (1864-1929)...

This 1926 etching by the American artist, John Taylor Arms, measures 10 3/4 x 9 7/8 inches, pencil signed and dated, also called "The Cathedral of Notre Dame, From the Lower Town", edition of 100, from his French Church Series #8, cat: Fletcher 181, printed by Frederick Reynolds. This etching won the "John G. Agar Prize, Fifth Annual Exhibition by Living American Etchers, National Arts Club, New York, N.Y." in 1927.

Vlaminck is known as a Fauvist and later simply as an expressionist. At auctions, his works in oil bring from the low hundreds of thousands of dollars to the low millions...

John Sloan 1871-1951 American This is an original etching by American Ash Can School artist John Sloan. The title is: Boys Sledding, it was created and printed in 1920 in an edition of 100. This impression is hand signed in pencil, titled and annotated a "100 Proofs in the lower border. The image mesures 5 1/4X6 15/16 inches. Printed on a medium weight wove type sheet, with tack holes where the artist held the sheet down to dry. Very fine condition.
