Oil on canvas laid on old board of a country landscape with an apple tree at left and a split rail fence surrounding a clearing, 14" by 21 3/4" (18" by 26 1/4" as framed), apparently unsigned, but dated 1885 in the lower right corner. I feel the painting could be by a listed artist but the painting is not talking. The predominating greens and browns and the old gold frame make for a Hudson River style painting...

Oil on canvas luminous landscape of a peaceful Highlands lake ("loch") in late afternoon, 20" by 30" (27" by 37" as framed), signed at lower right by prolific Scottish and English artist FRANK E. JAMIESON (1834-1899). Jamieson painted a lot of paintings, and they are widely dispersed, and though not all are masterpieces, they are very satisfying and easy to live with, and a lot less expensive than those of masters like Alfred DeBreanski...

Pastel on paper of a rugged coast with crashing waves, 13 1/2" by 19 1/2", plus wood frame, signed at lower right by often-auctioned California artist CARL SAMMONS (1883-1968). Sammons is known among collectors for his impressionist landscapes, often of Northern California, but he also traveled to other parts of the state and throughout the Southwest. The artist was born in Nebraska and was in California by the year 1919, studying at the California School of Fine Arts...

An interesting painting of a rather ruddy-faced gent, in a dark jacket with a striped yellow waistcoat, holding a book at the bottom center. The reverse of the case has blue and yellow striped fabric and a lock of hair, all under beveled glass which has worn reverse painted gilding. The gilded metal case is 2" by 1 7/8".

Fine early pencil drawing on wove paper, the subject a distant view of Windsor Castle and the Thames River (favorite subject of so many, many artists), signed at lower right "James M. Hart" and dated there 1855. This is a rather early work of JAMES MACDOUGAL HART (1828-1901) of later Hudson River School fame. Hart's major large scale landscape paintings have reached into six figures at auction, and sales in the tens of thousands are not unusual...

David Y. Cameron 1865-1945 British This is a rare original etching and drypoint by Scottish artist David Cameron. The title is: Wingless Chimera, Amiens Cathedral, it was created and printed in 1911. Hand signed in pencil, this etching measures an image area of 7 5/8X9 3/8 inches. Printed on a medium weight laid type sheet. This image was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1911. This image appears in the Rinder catalog as image number 416.

Stow Wengenroth 1906-1978 American This is a fine early lithograph by American artist Stow Wengenroth. The title is: Three Trees, Eastport Maine, it was created and printed in 1932 in an edition of only 50. This pencil signed lithograph has an image size of 8 3/16X12 3/4 inches. Printed on a medium weight wove type paper.

Late 19th century alabaster statue of a lovely maiden. With her arms outstretched she studying a small bump on her finger. Probably Italian, condition is very good with some minor old dings expected with age, but most notable is a large chip on the back side of the base (see last photo). The price has been adjusted accordingly. Having a wonderful patina that only comes with time, this beauty measures about 18 inches high.
