Alexander Nay brown terracotta carved figure of a bird,mid 1970s incised brown clay with a hole at back for mounting to a base, base not included. The artist initialed this piece" N 4 "in his usual incised way. Size l 3.75" by 1.5" high there is a slight chip to one edge of its beak as seen in pictures. This is from a very rare group of early miniature pieces most all were initialed in this way...

A large poster, 38" by 28" inside the mat window and 49 1/2" by 39" in silvery, attractive, quality frame, signed discretely at upper left center by listed Italian artist MARIO BORGONI (1869-1950). Printed by Richter & Co. of Napoli, the subject is a handsome young man, sword in hand, partially draped in the green, white and red of the Italian flag. The poster, "Prestito Nazionale", was created to drum up patriotic feeling to help fund, through bonds, the war activities in 1916...

Original etching by Wendell Black (USA, 1919-1972), started in 1961. Black was still working on this etching when he passed away 18 years later. First edition artist proof, posthumously printed by Berkley Chappell. No lifetime edition exists. Signed and dated "Wendell Black 61 by Elaine" l.r. The sitter is wearing a lace-edged blue dress, tightly belted at the waist, with a gold and red brooch centered at the bodice, and a lace cap, The painting and the ebonized wood frame (which has a finely craquelured surface) are in fine condition. Sight size is 2 7/8" by 2 1/4", with a frame size of 5 1/4" by 4 1/2".

At lower right is written the title of the work, "A Mirage--Ariz". Burr's etchings and watercolors of the Great Southwest, especially Arizona and Colorado, are eagerly sought after by collectors...

A nicely painted work of Boston-born still life painter CHARLES STORER (1817-1907), the subject red roses, painted on gray art board, measuring 10" by 14" (15 1/2" by 19 1/4" framed). The artist signed at center left edge and dated the painting 1901. This is an excellent example of still life work of the period in New England. Storer was born in Boston, He exhibited at the Boston Art Club and the National Academy. Most existing paintings appear to date to near the end of the artist's life...

A large watercolor on paper on panel painting of a classical mountain landscape, dated in Chinese 1980 at upper left (and likely signed there, I cannot read calligraphy), the work measuring 32" by 22 1/2" (the entire panel 40 1/2" by 30 1/2" with metal frame, loose/no glass). The artist was obviously familiar with centuries of Chinese classical landscapes. There is light wear in several places but nothing serious. The work is loose within the frame and can be shipped with or without it.
