A nicely painted miniature painting of a blue-eyed gentleman wearing a black tie, coat and black silk vest. The artist has chosen a nice blue background, complementing the sitter's eyes.

The condition of the painting the case are excellent. The spots on the painting are bits of dust, and the lighter color black along the inner edges of the coat are intentionally painted that way. The case size is 2 3/4" by 2 3/8".

Arthur Briscoe, British, 1893-1963, "Oyster Dreckers," etching, plate measures 6 1/2 x 10 inches on 8 1/2 x 11 1/4 inch laid paper. C. 1924. Catalog: Hurst 87. Edition of 75. The scene depicts some oyster dredgers on Buzzon (or Besom) Creek, near Briscoe's home in Colchester. The oyster industry there is now endangered, but Briscoe has captured it well.
