At first I had difficulty reading the signature but some net research showed this to be by an artist apparently at least originally hailing from Louisiana, there being a number of pieces, some still life works, having been auctioned in New Orleans. A famous restaurant in that city goes by this name...

A well-painted oil that reminds very much of the posters for JAWS, the terrifying 1970's movie in which an enormous shark terrorizes a summer beach coast community. The work is oil on canvas, 16" by 20", unframed, and is signed at lower right by artist Ryan Wells, dated nearby "10". The shallows, clear water, and nearby vegetation suggest a locale like southern Florida, or southwestern Florida. The shark is especially well depicted. Clearly the artist shows talent...

Vassiliou's biography is not extensive but he was evidently a prolific painter at mid century, most works featuring Egypt, Greece and the Mediterranean region. He seems to have always signed with this capital "W" for some reason...

PAIR of unframed, unstretched oil on canvas paintings, the larger 20" by 24", the smaller one 17 1/4" by 22", both signed at lower right "Allen H. Newton" and bearing inscriptions on the reverse showing the locations in Andover, Connecticut (east of Hartford, between there and Willimantic in the northeastern part of the state). The "Memphis"-looking work is made of relatively heavy pressboard panels subsequently laminated with various surfaces, some dull/matte, one glossy like simulated marble, one like brushed aluminum or stainless steel...

This is a colorful work by a noted California woman artist known for her genre paintings. She is listed in many reference works including Dawdy, Hughes, and Falk's Who Was Who in American Art, and the Dictionary of Women Artists...

In his book Daniel Tretiak says: “Maki’s kanji prints were normally of one main color against a white or black background. Poem 71-29 below is an exception—and all the more interesting because of it. In this print, Maki has created an abstract Person—the splashes of color show the head, eyes, shoulder, and two legs.” It measures 8.75in W X 12in H and is no. 73 of an edition of 152.

Acrylic on canvas, 23" by 35" plus 5/8" wide black simple frame, signed on reverse with what could be "Tamworth" or "Ramworth" plus copyright symbol (unsigned on front). This was probably preliminary art for a more finished drawing or painting by this well known freelance illustrator.
