A naïve but appealing watercolor and gouache painting on organic wafer of a young gentleman. The background is done with great effect in blues, brown, and pink.
The 2 1/4" by 1 3/4" painting is in fine condition, with no flaws to speak of. The case is structurally sound, with a glazed aperture on the rear, but could use a good overall cleaning.
A fine early watercolor with gum arabic highlighting, the subject a stag in a landscape, by a well-listed English 19th century artist, NEWTON SMITH FIELDING (1799-1856). The work measures 5 3/8" by 8" and is laid on another piece of paper. Including the present mat, dimensions are 16" by 20". The signature is actually on that second piece of paper, in pencil, at lower center. Fielding was born in England and died in Paris...
PAIR of gouache paintings, one 10" by 10 1/2", the other 11 1/4" by 10 1/2" (21" by 20" and 19 1/2" by 19 1/2" as identically framed in birdseye maple), each bearing a placard, one work identified as "House in Saratoga Springs", the other "Band Stand at Kinderhook". The edition was 500 unsigned and unnumbered.
A highly decorative late 20th century painting after the Dutch 17th through 19th century classic winter landscapes, 33" by 36 1/2" as framed, signed at lower right by artist W. Reynolds. The work is clean and in very nice condition overall. There is some slight crazing at left in the sky, just enough to increase the impression of this being an old painting, and the frame has some light wear that can be touched up...

Original, very scarce (edition of 30?) unframed 1909 etching known as "Pittsburgh, no. II", signed at lower right center in pencil by the important American etcher, illustrator, critic, author and teacher JOSEPH PENNELL (1857-1926). Evidently, Pennell himself printed this particular example as "imp" is written after his name. The sheet, heavily trimmed at three sides as seen, measures 9" by 12"...

Overall framed size 16.5" W x 23.5" H x 1.0" D. In good condition minor surface wear and very light crease to the paper.
