A rare etching of one of New York area's bridges, depicted in an interesting phase of its construction, pencil signed by American etcher artist RALPH PEARSON (1883-1958). The work measures 10 3/4" by 15 1/4" inside the mat and 17 1/2" by 21" as framed. The artist titled it at lower left "#69 Hell Gate Bridge" and inscribed it in pencil at lower margin "To Harold Swartz--Artist". (Harold Swartz appears to refer to the Los Angeles/New Mexico sculptor, born 1887, died 1948)...

From our European Collection, a very fine original painting entitled "The Duet," by 19th century watercolor master George Goodwin (G.G.) Kilburne (1839-1924). We've seen a fair amount of Kilburne watercolors, as he was a pretty prolific artist of his day, but we think this is one of his better pieces. To paint as realistically as he does in just watercolor, as opposed to oil paint, is really a special talent all of its own. Signed lower right...

Oil on canvas painting of white and pink roses in a blue bowl, signed at lower right "Strachan". The work, measuring 18" by 24" and 23" by 28 1/2" in likely original frame, has tiny losses in background and lower left area. The frame also has light wear, and losses on back of left edge. Overall, a very shabby chic piece in feeling. There is an old Los Angeles framer's sticker on reverse backing.
