This is an eighteenth century English drawing, 10 1/2" by 15" including the mat details drawn by the artist, plus 1 1/2" wide old gold frame, the subject two men fishing on a pond, a house in the distance and trees framing this idyllic scene of Olde England, signed near the figures "I Burford" (or, Barford possibly) and dated there 1742 or possibly 1792. I do not see an artist listing that would correspond with this...

This is a marriage of a circa 1880 gold American Victorian frame with distinctive and unusual diamond patterns in the gilt, the frame rabbet 14" by 18", the framed item total 19 1/2" by 23", a mid 20th century still life signed "Olenick" set into it. It makes for an interesting combination but doesn't have to necessarily stay that way. The antique frame itself is very attractive and could potentially house any number of 19th century paintings...

Late 19th century American watercolor painting of sheep in a country landscape with trees, 12" by 24 1/2" (21" by 33 1/2" framed), signed at lower right with initials "S.M.G.". The artist might be hard to identify but the work resembles watercolors by such artists as Carl Weber (see example in my shop). The artist has used a combination of watercolor and white gouache. Condition is excellent. The gold frame has age and there are some missing pieces.

From having checked the 1981 catalog raisonne by Daniel Marchesseau, I have determined that the most official title of this work is "Fillette aux Yeux Vertes" ("Young Girl with Green Eyes", although a number of other titles are in common usage for this essually popular print)...

An interesting marriage of Japanese kirigami or "kirie" art, (paper intricately cut to a lace-like appearance, that finished work, in this example, a crane standing in water, and surrounded by pine trees) and a circa 1885 American Eastlake style gold and black frame. The paper art measures 5 1/2" by 5", and the entire framed piece 15" by 13 1/2"...

When I first saw this piece, it screamed to me "Picasso". The 11 1/2" by 7 1/2" work is not signed, but the style, the slight glaze on the baked clay surface, the decoration, is suggestive of the ceramic Madoura works of Picasso. The item weighs just shy of three pounds. Condition is excellent.

The painting is signed at lower left "M H Brown" and dated there 57 or 59, and the word "Georgetown" identifies the setting. A modern framer's sticker on the backing from Georgetown, Colorado confirms the locale. This is a well executed impressionistic watercolor of haystacks on a marsh, a popular theme in American art, addressed most notably during the third quarter of the nineteenth century by the great Martin Johnson Heade, in the marshes of coastal northeastern Massachusetts. Oil on canvas painting, 18 1/2" by 24 1/2" including the thin red wood frame, circa 1960's or 1970's, signed on the stretcher "John J. Molino". I don't see a listing for the name so offer the painting as a decorative mid century item. It is quite a colorful and dramatic work and will beautifully complement your Eames Era modern decor.
