This is a rather early landscape etching in brown ink, signed at lower right in pencil by the renowned southwestern artist MICHAEL B. COLEMAN (1946-). The work is numbered 20/20 at lower left margin. Judging from the auction record, which shows that oils have exceeded $50,000, the number of etchings by Coleman's hand is apparently rather limited. This one probably dates to early in his career, perhaps the late 1970's or early 1980's. Coleman was born in Utah and still lives there...

A very interesting and unusual painting, appearing to be gouache on a prepared gessoed panel (and the piece is accordingly quite heavy for its size), featuring Native American indian dancers and onlookers in the Southwest, likely Navajos of New Mexico or northeastern Arizona. The 22 1/2" by 27" unframed work is signed at lower right "Arline Wyrick". A quick google search did not reveal any obvious links to a known artist, but she was obviously quite skilled, and this bears further research...

Hand signed in pencil lower border. This image appears in the R.A.A. catalog as image number 183.

Gouache and watercolor on paper drawing, 11" by 8 1/2", in metal framing, no glass, signed at bottom right possibly "LEE" and perhaps a date "41" or "47" after that. The framing was done in the Seattle area (see sticker), and putting the style together with that framing information, I feel that perhaps this might be by an artist working in the Mark Tobey school in the Northwest, but this is speculation...

A strongly limned portrait miniature, on natural material, done by Augustus Fuller. The subject is a young lady with dotted white organza collar and fichu, a tall tortoiseshell comb, and ruby and diamond earrings.

Fuller did sign a number of his miniatures, but apparently always on the back. Since this example is presented in its never opened original frame, it is possible that it is a signed piece. Regardless, because of the technique and composition, there is no question that this was done ...

Mortimer Menpes, English, 1860-1938, "Interior of St Maclou, Rouen". This etching by Mortimer Menpes measures 12 3/8 x 6 3/8 inches, pencil signed, c. 1902, edition of 50, looking towards the Gothic Baldachin. Menpes attended the School of Art in London in 1878 and started exhibiting at the Royal Academy in 1880. He became a major figure in the etching revival, producing more than seven hundred different etchings and drypoints, which he usually printed himself.
