I do not see an actual signature on the painting itself but have not removed the backing board to search the reverse side. The painting is in excellent original condition...

Interesting contemporary work by artist MYRA AH CHEE (1931-), featuring not only the dot style that is most commonly seen in Australian aboriginal art, but also silhouetted or painted grubs, echidna, goanna lizards, ants, ticks---the insects and small animals of the central desert region. The artist was born in 1931 to a large family in Oodnadotta, but only within the last twenty years has she become active in producing art. She works in painting, linocut, batik, silk screen and pottery...

Oil on canvas painting of mountains and a beautiful lake, 20 1/2" by 26 1/2" (28" by 34 1/2" framed), signed at lower right by the listed Hungarian painter MARTON BARABAS (1893-1974). Barabas was born in Hungary and received his initial art training there, before moving on to Munich and Paris for further study. Eventually he established himself in Berlin for many years before moving to Los Angeles in 1958. In 1971 a book, "The Art of Marton Barabas de Markosfalva" was published in that city...

Fine oil on canvas painting of a quiet street and buildings on a gray day in winter, possibly Montmartre, signed at lower right by the highly regarded French School of Montmartre painter ALPHONSE-LEON QUIZET (1885-1955). Quizet though not a household name today, was a significant figure in the group of artists painting the bohemian, and in some parts, country-like Montmartre neighborhood on the outskirts of Paris in the first half of the century...

Watercolor measuring 14 1/4" by 20 1/2" plus 2" wide wood inexpensive frame, by listed Irish artist JOSEPH WILLIAM CAREY (1859-1937), signed J.W. CAREY and titled at lower right "Loch Lochy/Caledonian Canal" and dated 1920. There is an old 1920's or 1930's Belfast label on the reverse wood from William Rodman and Company, 41 Donegall Place BELFAST. This piece is showing its age, as it has evidently traveled through life for some time without protective glass...

Measuring 24 1/2" by 33 1/2" (32" by 40 1/2" in its blond wood quality frame), this is a very clean and fresh work ready for the wall. The complementary signature makes for an affordable way to approach the work of a woman artist whose works have exceeded $100,000 at major auctions in New York and London...

Clottu" and dated there "27". Surprisingly I have not located a listing for this name, though the work suggests that this could be by a listed artist...

Watercolor on paper, unframed, unsigned, dated 1924 and titled "Col Spgs", showing old houses against a mountain backdrop. This is a beautifully executed work by an artist that I would imagine is listed, but, he didn't sign his work. The sheet measures 12" by 17 3/4". There is a sketch of a man's profile on the reverse. If you live along I-25, or even if you don't, you will appreciate this fine old drawing from Colorado Springs, where the Broadmoor art colony flourished.

Oil on canvasboard, 12" by 16" (17" by 21" as framed), signed at lower right by artist CURT PAULSON. I do not see a listing but the artist had a skilled hand. The style reminds a bit of California desert painters William Darling or Fred Chisnall. There is impasto, vigorous brush stroke, and a grayish blue light over the scene. Apparently original whitish antiqued frame completes this ready for the wall package. Condition is excellent.

Monochromatic landscape on masonite, 20" by 16" and 4" wide frame/liner, with wagon and sod or adobe structures, signed at lower right "G. NIBLETT". This is a work by noted western American artist GARY NIBLETT (1943-), listed in Samuels' book "Contemporary Western Artists". Niblett has been a member of the prestigious Cowboy Artists of America since 1976. His works have sold into the tens of thousands at major auctions of western art...

Oil on canvas painting, 12" by 20", unframed, signed at lower right by the well known Australian impressionist, HAYWARD VEAL (1913-1968). This is a vigorously painted landscape in greens and browns, enlivened by bold Key Lime bright light green daubs at top. Veal's works appear frequently at auctions of Australian art, where they can bring to the $5,000 area and above. He is known for his highly impressionistic landscapes and still life, with portraiture rounding out his body of work...

Oil on board, measuring 13 1/2" by 13 1/2" and 1 1/2" wide gold frame, unsigned, depicting a number of California poppies vignetted against a neutral background. This is a very decorative painting of the California state flower, executed in late Victorian times or early 20th century when such paintings were all the vogue. This one has survived in excellent condition and would be perfect for a Mission, Arts and Crafts, or Southwest style interior. Frame has small losses.

Oil on canvas, 40 1/2" by 32", in thin wood frame, signed at lower right and dated "57" by important twentieth century German artist ERNST FRITSCH (1892-1965), an artist mentioned in the same sentences as Bruno Krauskopf, Dix, Grosz, and other German art world giants of the twenties.
