Contemporary pencil and watercolor drawing in simple metal gold framing, the subject two women apparently dancing in a late 19th century cafe, the drawing 8 1/2" by 5 1/4" inside the mat (the entire sheet significantly larger, at 11 3/4" by 8 1/4"), signed at lower right "Dan" or "Han" or similar. The scene reminds of George Grosz' 1920's drawings of Berlin cafe goers, or even Toulouse Lautrec's Parisian cafe's. The drawing is nicely crafted.

(National Watercolor Society) by the listed California watercolor artist ROBERT UECKER (1929-2005). Uecker was born in Los Angeles and won a five year scholarship to the Chouinard Art Institute, where he was instructed by the likes of Rex Brandt, Ed Reep, and Pruett Carter...

This is an etching by the important American artist JOHN SLOAN (1871-1951), titled "Dupont's Ride", on wove paper, in an edition of apparently 1,000 examples, published in Boston in 1902 by the Frederick Quinby Company. It is part of a series issued to illustrate the writings of French novelist Charles Paul deKock. Artist William Glackens did the primary work and then talented artists including Sloan, George Luks, Maurice Sterne and others were brought in to turn the images to etching...

A decorative print, 27" by 23 1/2" in its white wood frame with blue inner fillet, after the painting "Blue Bouquet" by the important modern French artist BERNARD BUFFET (1928-1999). The painting was produced in 1957, so the print likely dates to the late 1950's or early 1960's. There are light scratches at lower right measuring about 4", and some small loss areas at upper left showing as white spots...

Watercolor on paper, 12 1/2" by 18 1/4" inside the present mat, 19 1/2" by 26" as framed, signed "TOWNLEY" at lower right corner and dated there "Oct. 68". I do not see a listing that would match up with this name but the artist was obviously a talented individual. This appears to be a mountain landscape in one of the western states. The trees and the animals are beautifully executed, and there is a superb little ink drawing of a fox near the signature...

Watercolor painting of a blue-eyed dark haired younger man with long sideburns, seated in a chair, circa 1860's, possibly a bit earlier, apparently unsigned, 9" by 6 1/2" (12 1/4" by 10 1/4" framed). The drawing shows some evidence of 150 years of age, with some light surface scratches in a few spots, a circular discoloration on the paper at left wall, and a little other foxing/discoloration. Found in Florida. I would lean towards the work being of American, rather than English, origin.

By French School of Paris (L'Ecole de Paris) artist ROGER CHASTEL (1897-1981), a color lithograph print on heavy paper, possible title "Nature Morte", numbered in pencil at left margin 115/220, and with blind stamp "GG" in a circle. Chastel was active as an artist for decades, beginning at a very young age. By the 1920's he was already exhibiting. Later in life, his works were exhibited internationally...

Pencil signed etching, 8 1/2" by 6 1/2" inside the mat, 15 1/4" by 12 1/4" as framed, titled at lower left "The Arts and Crafts Courtyard", (and edition number there given as "100"), the subject the famed and often painted Brulatour Courtyard in the French Quarter, by the well listed Arizona and southwestern painter and art educator GERRY PEIRCE (1900-1969). Peirce was born in upstate New York and educated at the Art Students League and the Cleveland School of Art...

Circa 1960's drip painting on paper, 22 1/2" by 18", unsigned, mounted to a thin board. This is not a Jackson Pollock or Sam Francis, but it is a work of art and it has age. The thin paper is glued down at least at the edges and possibly in the center as well. The paper is browned where it has been under the mat for many years, (about 1 3/4" to about 1/2") and there is puckering where the paper has been glued...

A color propaganda poster from the 1960's or 1970's Mao-Tse-Tung era, 19" by 29 1/2" inside the current matting, 28" by 41" in present simple black framing behind Plexi.
