This is a 1972 acrylic on canvas painting done by Suzann Phelan Denny. It is painted on a very large canvas which measures 62 3/4" x 48". This is a copy of a famous painting by the German Artist Cranach.

This is a very unusual American portrait of a lady. The painting is oil on canvas mounted loosly on a cardboard with tacks. The painting is done in a many layered style which is similar to the style of Albert Pinkham Ryder (1847-1917). It is marked in pencil on the back Ms. Pitts. The painting is marked in the lower right corner with a large capital R. Many of Ryder paintings have been copied; however this would be a very unusual copy. It is a very American Portrait...

It is signed "Hennessey" and dated (81) l.r. It is also signed "James Hennessey" and dated on the stretcher. A wonderful large Italian inspired work with a fresco-like facture by a painter who taught at the Maryland Institute College of Art for many years and traveled through Italy for as many years...

The hotel boasted of having a beautiful six-passenger mahogany elevator, making it "The Littlest Hotel in the World with an Elevator."
