A fine landscape drawing in pastel by a skilled hand, Swiss-born artist MAXIM (MAXIMILIAN) SEIBOLD. The drawing measures 9 1/4" by 12 1/2" (13 1/4" by 16 1/2" in attractive probably original old gold framing---very light wear). Seibold was a competent and talented artist, very active around the year 1920, who seems to have left behind little biographical information. Born in Switzerland, he evidently came to America at least by the 'teens, as drawings of Florida and elsewhere are known...

Original print in black and white, described on paperwork affixed to the backing as a Heliogravure, 10 1/4" by 8 3/4" inside the mat (26" by 22" as framed), not signed or numbered. The popular and familiar image is "Gabrielle et Jean" (after the famous painting of Renoir's wife and son). Heliogravure is described as one of the very earliest photographic etching processes. Apparently in 1919 at the artist's death, heliogravures were made of many of his popular paintings...

The title of this work is: La Blanchisseuse (The Laundress) This image was created and printed in 1922. It is pencil signed by the artist and numbered as 40/72 in the lower right border. The image measures 9 7/8X7 1/8 inches. Nicely Framed. Very good condition. Laboureur was well known for his distinctly Cubist style of expression.
