A PAIR of detailed ink drawings, one titled "The Cottage", featuring a tidy home in the English countryside, the other a dated 1911 detailed look at a Gothic church's walls and entrance portal. Affixed to the crumbling old backing is a label for "The Cottage", showing it apparently won the "John J. Burnet Prize" for Alex Nicolson, who was evidently a student in "Club No. 129". So Nicolson was evidently a talented young artist...
Introduction: One of the reasons Raphael's Madonna and Child paintings were so influential was that there were so many of them. They numbered in the dozens with many
more copies done by later artists. Beyond that though, Raphael's Madonnas are admired for the quiet elegance each has in common while nevertheless
allowing us to glimpse the intimate, even playful joy shared by both mother and child. Examples of this can be seen in his Alba Madonna and the Madonna
of the Chair...

An oil on canvas in a naive style of a line of deer walking along a gentle hill toward the top of a larger hill with the sunset and distant view of the other side of the valley. The painting was found in Shenandoah Valley though no record of, “A. Taylor” has been found. The tone of the painting is warm. While there are no give away clues as to the age between the late 19th or the early 20th century, it has a feel of being in the earlier part of that range rather than the later...
A view of Long Island circa 1915 by an Ashcan School artist depicting a view of a industrial factory. Unsigned oil on Masonite
This work needs some TLC, due to a large rip, unstable and missing paint, and grime......a vintage late 19th century/early 20th century work on canvas, 18" by 30", unframed, apparently unsigned, the subject one of the volcanoes of the Pacific Northwest. The painting should be saved for posterity, but for that to happen, it will require relining, cleaning and inpainting by a professional restorer. If you are a restorer yourself, this would be an ideal acquisition.
