William David Hanna was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on August 31st, 1941. The youngest of twelve children in a working-class home on the city’s North Side, Hanna demonstrated an unusual interest in antiques and historical sites as a child and spent much of his free time sketching. Watercolor on paper of herons or egrets in a marshy area, measuring 21 1/4" by 29 1/4" (54 cm. by 74 cm.), in a 1" wide modern era frame. The painting is firmly signed in ink at lower right and dated 1905. This is, judging from auction records I see, **one of the largest works by this noted Belgian impressionist artist**. Outer was born in the part of Luxembourg closest to Belgium. He studied art in Louvain and Brussels, and in the atelier of Jean-Francois Portaels...

Numbered 3/8 (although we believe only 3 or 4 were cast), signed "McFall", and with the foundry mark of "Fiorini & Carney Founders London". In excellent original condition. An early oil on canvas painting, 10 1/4" by 8 1/2", unframed, unsigned, featuring a nocturne moonlight view of Mission Delores in San Francisco. At the time the landmark was a popular subject for artists. Manuel Valencia was apparently fond of painting it as it appears in a number of his works...

It is quite appropriate that a French sculptor created this bronze of Cinderella, for after all it was a French author who gave us the modern version of the beloved fairy tale of the young woman who went from riches to rags to riches with the help of a fairy godmother.

She is seated somewhat forlornly holding a spindle of yarn, but it is the two objects behind her feet which give away the story...
