A beautifully painted oil on Masonite work featuring the peak autumn color in the mountains, likely the Laurentians north of Montreal. The artist is VIVIAN WALKER (1903-1994), who signed her name in the wet paint, at lower left. Walker was born in Hawkesbury, Ontario. Gerald Leslie Brockhurst 1890-1978 English This is a fine portrait study by British artist Gerald Brockhurst. The subject is James McBey the well known British etcher. This etching was created and printed in 1931 in an edition of 111. This pencil signed impression measures an image size of 10 1/2X7 1/2 inches. This etching was Illustrated in Fine Prints of the Year, 1931. Cat. Fletcher 69.

This print Z-446B was one of a small number of creations that he put on hard, gold-edged board. Daniel Tretiak wrote that these prints “were printed first on very thin paper, which was then ‘wrapped’ around heavy shikishi board. They are lithographs not done from wood blocks. Done in 1999, this work measures 7.25in x 8.25in, is in excellent condition, and one of an edition of 77.
