A **PAIR** of fine watercolor and gouache drawings, both of Punjab (northern India) soldiers in costume of their period, both signed "John Lucas" by the noted English artist JOHN SEYMOUR LUCAS (1849-1923). One is titled "5th Cavalry Punjab 1897", the other "37th Punjab Infantry 1905". Both measure 10" by 7" inside their present maroon mats (unframed). Small oil landscape, 13 1/2" by 9 1/2" framed, signed at lower right corner with initials N.A.M., with canvas stencil on the reverse of Winsor & Newton, London. This is a scene of autumn or early spring perhaps, the tree without leaves. There is a small irrigation channel with sluice gate at center left. The work is a quiet and pleasant scene focusing on a peaceful time of the year. A gold frame would enhance the painting. Condition is good, the canvas not perfectly flat.
