This antique early 19th-century Spanish Colonial Mexican Retablo features Our Lady Refuge of Sinners (Nuestra Senora de Refugio de Los Pecadores). It is finely hand-painted in oil on a tin panel. The painting depicts the Virgin Mary holding the Baby Jesus wrapped in a cloth. The Baby Jesus holds his mother's hand and sleeve for support. This work needs some TLC, due to a large rip, unstable and missing paint, and grime......a vintage late 19th century/early 20th century work on canvas, 18" by 30", unframed, apparently unsigned, the subject one of the volcanoes of the Pacific Northwest. The painting should be saved for posterity, but for that to happen, it will require relining, cleaning and inpainting by a professional restorer. If you are a restorer yourself, this would be an ideal acquisition.

Ottavio Padovanino, Italian, 1582-1634. This stunning drawing is red chaulk and pencil on paper mounted on paper. It is 15"H by 10.6"W with the name Padovanino handwritten in pencil on the paper below the drawing. Verso is written Alessandro Varotari, Verona, 1588-1648, "Le Padovau...." The condition is good with minor foxing and a darkened edge due to framing. It was in a private collection in Chicago.
