This is an etching by the important American artist JOHN SLOAN (1871-1951), titled "Dupont's Ride", on wove paper, in an edition of apparently 1,000 examples, published in Boston in 1902 by the Frederick Quinby Company. One of a number of prints by this artist in my inventory, this is a fresh and clean rather early example of one of William Russell Flint's fine color reproductions issued in limited editions for collectors over a period of decades. This one is signed by the artist in pencil at lower right and bears the characteristic embossed Fine Art Trade Guild blind stamp in lower left margin. The title of this image, which was issued in the year 1942 in an edition of 500 examples, is "Mirror at the Ballet"...
