This is an antique painting of a rose in a tall glass vase, 13 1/2" by 5 3/8" framed, unsigned, circa 1900. Found in Rockland, Maine. The work, being of an unusual shape, might be that perfect addition to your narrow little space. There is wear on frame and the painting has even light soiling consistent with its age.

One of two works by this artist in my shop is this watercolor on paper, measuring 8 1/4" by 13 5/8" inside the mat, 14" by 19" as framed, signed at lower right by the noted American nineteenth century artist GEORGE HERBERT MCCORD (1848-1909). This is a nicely painted work by an artist considered to be among the "second generation" of Hudson River School painters. McCord was from the New York and New Jersey area, but he painted in Europe, and for a time in the western United States...

This is a folky painting of someone's favorite St. Bernard dog, circa 1870's or 1880's (ONE OF TWO SUCH WORKS IN MY SHOP). Measuring 21" by 16" on the original very old stretchers and 12 1/2" by 12 1/2" (and 17 1/2" by 17 1/2" as framed), the painting is a sweet and classic rendition of a treasured pet of the Victorian era. An interesting portrait miniature, by William Baldwin, of a nattily attired gent. The sitter, with a very rakish look about him, is set against a bright blue background, has long thick hair, a soul patch, and is wearing a stickpin with multi-colored jewels. These are motifs, along with the use of a strong blue background, that seem to appear in a number of his minis, as uncommon as they are...

A circa 1910 small oil on canvas landscape of a forest pond, signed at lower right "O. Sch". This 3 1/2" by 5 1/2" work (9 1/2" by 11 1/2" framed) came from a local family of German heritage. Their art, some of which I acquired, came with the family from the old country. This work has some condition issues, as the canvas over the decades has buckled, with sharp horizontal roughly parallel "ridges" now apparent, as well as craquelure...

Here's an unusual item, a painting on white milk glass, in oil, measuring 5 1/2" by 7 1/2" and 8" by 10" as framed. The somewhat folk art feeling work is not signed. I would judge the age as anywhere from about 1880 to about 1920----a nautical type could probably date this more accurately by noting in which decade such a ship would have existed. Condition is good with minor paint losses from scratches and aging. However the small losses are not really noticeable at normal viewing distance. ...
