This is an antique painting of a rose in a tall glass vase, 13 1/2" by 5 3/8" framed, unsigned, circa 1900. Found in Rockland, Maine. The work, being of an unusual shape, might be that perfect addition to your narrow little space. There is wear on frame and the painting has even light soiling consistent with its age.
Antique Italian watercolor by acknowledged watercolor master artist GIUSEPPE SIGNORINI (1857-1932), measuring 17 1/4" by 13 1/4" (27 1/2" by 23" in elaborate gesso frame), signed at lower left "G Signorini". The work features a young gentleman and lady of nobility in a lavish classic salon interior setting complete with pillow, stringed musical instrument such as a lute, and other luxury surroundings. The paper has browned significantly and the colors appear faded...
Watercolor painting of the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy, circa turn of the century plus or minus a few years (bears date, apparently 1902, extreme right corner), 11 1/4" by 20", (20" by 28 1/2" as framed), signed at lower right indecipherably. The signature appears as "Bonary" or something similar. The painting was executed on paper, which has oxidized over the years, there being a definite browning now...

From our European Collection, a masterpiece by German genre realism painter Carl Johann Spielter (1851-1922), entitled "Sad News," painted in 1901. More information to follow:
Size: Framed Size 60 inches wide x 48 inches tall.
A well done art drawing dated 1904 of a big horn sheep. Measuring 18x22”
One of two works by this artist in my shop is this watercolor on paper, measuring 8 1/4" by 13 5/8" inside the mat, 14" by 19" as framed, signed at lower right by the noted American nineteenth century artist GEORGE HERBERT MCCORD (1848-1909). This is a nicely painted work by an artist considered to be among the "second generation" of Hudson River School painters. McCord was from the New York and New Jersey area, but he painted in Europe, and for a time in the western United States...
This is a folky painting of someone's favorite St. Bernard dog, circa 1870's or 1880's (ONE OF TWO SUCH WORKS IN MY SHOP). Measuring 21" by 16" on the original very old stretchers and 12 1/2" by 12 1/2" (and 17 1/2" by 17 1/2" as framed), the painting is a sweet and classic rendition of a treasured pet of the Victorian era. Vintage dog paintings are very popular and collectable...
An interesting portrait miniature, by William Baldwin, of a nattily attired gent. The sitter, with a very rakish look about him, is set against a bright blue background, has long thick hair, a soul patch, and is wearing a stickpin with multi-colored jewels. These are motifs, along with the use of a strong blue background, that seem to appear in a number of his minis, as uncommon as they are...
Santa Maria della Salute, Venice
by C. Myron Clark (American, 1876-1925)
Oil on canvas, signed and dated: "1906"
Painting: 16" x 12"
Frame: 21.5" x 17.5"
American painter C. Myron Clark specialized in marine subjects and, like so many other artists, was drawn to Venice with its ongoing atmospheric shifts in the sky and sea. The Peabody Museum in Salem, MA has five of his works in the permanent collection...
A circa 1910 small oil on canvas landscape of a forest pond, signed at lower right "O. Sch". This 3 1/2" by 5 1/2" work (9 1/2" by 11 1/2" framed) came from a local family of German heritage. Their art, some of which I acquired, came with the family from the old country. This work has some condition issues, as the canvas over the decades has buckled, with sharp horizontal roughly parallel "ridges" now apparent, as well as craquelure...
This painting is something of a mystery, in that it depicts a fantastic classic castle on a hill, obviously in the Old World, a donkey pulling a card in the foreground......yet, there is a modernity to the work, especially in the somewhat cubist handling of the lines of the architecture, but, also, there's modernity in the entire structure of the image. Painted on an old board, this measures 26" by 18" (30" by 22" in a modern frame). The painting is signed at lower right "M...

Young Girl with Paper Dolls
Oil-on-canvas, Unsigned
Oval: 19” x 14 ¼”
Frame: 25 ½” x 20 ¾”
This charming study of a young girl intent on cutting out paper dolls is reminiscent of works by Berthe Morisot, Mary Cassatt and Pierre-Auguste Renoir (his earlier works).
She is beautifully captured with her rosebud lips, her hair tied up in a bow, a lacy pinafore over her navy dress and stockinged legs ...
A charming, whimsical, beautifully painted oil on canvas painting of a brown-robed man of the church in a spring forest setting minding a pig, while a vision of loveliness, a nude young female, appears at right. The work is unsigned but most certainly would have been painted by a listed artist, I would think around the year 1910. The piece is unframed and measures 21 1/2" by 18"...
Abbott Fuller Graves
1859-1936
American, Boston
This is an early still Life of Flowers, oil on chamfered panel by American artist Abbott Fuller Graves. Created circa 1900 this painting is signed lower left corner and has an image size of 8 5/8 X 6 5/8 inches. Good condition with a few minor cracks in the panel, unobtrusive. This painting is housed in a period gilt frame. Graves worked with both Edmund Tarbell and Childe Hassam who he met while studying in Paris at the Academie Julian...
By the Danish-American sculptor and painter who between the late 1920's and his death created the famous portraits of the presidents on a South Dakota mountain, is this impressionist seascape painting on board, in a delightful range of blues and whites, 20 1/2" by 28 3/4" (28 1/4" by 37 1/4" in the old frame in which I acquired this), signed at lower right by GUTZON BORGLUM (JOHN GUTZON BORGLUM, 1867-1941)...
American F. Livingstone Artist Charcoal Portrait of General Pershing 29x24 John Joseph Pershing GCB (September 13, 1860 – July 15, 1948), nicknamed "Black Jack", was a senior United States Army officer. He served most famously as the commander of the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) on the Western Front in World War I, 1917–18. In addition to leading the A.E.F. to victory in World War I, Pershing notably served as a mentor to many in the generation of generals who led the United States A...
Here's an unusual item, a painting on white milk glass, in oil, measuring 5 1/2" by 7 1/2" and 8" by 10" as framed. The somewhat folk art feeling work is not signed. I would judge the age as anywhere from about 1880 to about 1920----a nautical type could probably date this more accurately by noting in which decade such a ship would have existed. Condition is good with minor paint losses from scratches and aging. However the small losses are not really noticeable at normal viewing distance. ...
