For the last four years, I have researched every aspect of this self-portrait to confirm its artist identity!! Today, I can confirm the artist of this self-portrait, it is ROY FOX LICHTENSTEIN!! I was able to match the 1956 signature to the “rather primitive notion of patterned linear repetition”, or unknown markings (which look like Hebrew) on the side of an airplane in the RFL’s drawing “AIRPLANE 1961”. Fine etching of windmills in a landscape in a brownish-black ink, 9" by 11" (14 1/2" by 16 3/4`" framed), pencil signed at lower right by listed artist DIRK BAKSTEEN (1886-1971). The quality of the work is excellent, reminding the viewer of Rembrandt and other better known artists, though Baksteen is a somewhat obscure figure today. Born in Rotterdam and educated in art there at the academy, by 1912 he was in Mol, Belgium, becoming part of the "School of Mol" landscape artists...

This is a beautifully executed work by a talented artist, on whom I have not located a listing. From the subject matter I would suspect this work to be from the Pacific Northwest, like Oregon, Washington, or Northern California. A **PAIR** of watercolor on paper paintings of tropical South Florida landscapes, each 15 1/4" by 19 1/4" (one unframed, the other measuring 21 1/4" by 25 1/4"), both signed by Wisconsin-born artist RACHEL STEARNS (1895-1979). Stearns spent much of her life in Chicago where she received art education, some with Frederic Grant. Evidently she spent a lot of time in Florida, as a number of watercolor works featuring scenes from that state are known...

A vintage watercolor of a Native American warrior seen in profile as he draws his arrow to hunt prey outside of the picture to the right. The work measures 13 1/2" by 10 1/2" inside the mat and 19 1/4" by 15" framed (no glass). The work is unsigned. There are some old watercolor stains at lower right which seem to blend into the imagery. There is some abrasion showing as whitish area trailing vertically down from mid-arm at right...

For the collector of fine photographs, here is a scarce or rare example of the work of major American photographer IMOGEN CUNNINGHAM (1883-1976). The image is of Anna Freud (1895-1982), the youngest child of famed psychologist Sigmund Freud, taken in 1959. The younger Freud became a specialist in child development and psychoanalysis, and today there is a foundation in London which carries on her work (google "anna freud centre")...
