A fine American miniature painting on natural wafer of a hazel-eyed woman, dressed in a white bonnet and fichu. Original locket gilt metal case has a plait of hair in the aperture on the back of the case.

Superb condition with no problems. The locket is 2 3/8" by 2", and the sight size of this little gem is 2 1/4" by 1 7/8".

Description: Wonderful miniature painting of a charming and pretty lady, in a beautiful blue and red dress, sitting with her left hand under chin. The painting comes with the artist's initials, K.A. on the lower right side. This is a small watercolor on thin card of a young woman with peaches and cream complexion and ringlets in her hair in the style of the 1820's through about 1860, unsigned, 5 3/4" by 3 3/4" plus narrow late 20th century frame, At first glance I thought this English or American, or Canadian, considering the Toronto gallery stamp on the framing paper, but upon opening it I discovered a stamp in old German script on the reverse, as shown...
