A fine and intriguing painting by the well regarded Ohio artist, Emerson Burkhart (1905-69). Probably dating from the 1960's. This painting measures about 20" by 16", overall frame about 22 1/2" by 18 1/2". Interesting subject and composition. Signed on back and front as shown.

PAIR of gouache paintings on paper, unframed, each 19 3/4" by 25 1/2", both signed by listed French mid century artist GERARD CABUS (born 1926). One appears to be dated 1967. Cabus was very active in the late 1950's through the 1960's, producing abstract compositions and other works in oil and watercolor. His biography is scant, but it does appear that major Paris galleries in the early 1960's gave him one man exhibitions, and some works have appeared at auction in France...

Fine 20th century art of the Middle East is now selling at auction in specialized sales in Dubai for large sums of money. The present work does not appear to be by an artist, AL-HILALI, who is listed at the present time; however I feel the quality of the work suggests that as the market for modern Islamic art develops, the artist will be properly recognized. A color propaganda poster from the 1960's or 1970's Mao-Tse-Tung era, 19" by 29 1/2" inside the current matting, 28" by 41" in present simple black framing behind Plexi. The paper is of a less-finished type that may be akin to newsprint. Print has slight creases in places but overall is in good clean condition. There are very minor edge tears and skins in a few places where this was crudely taped in the past and small moisture stain as shown...

An original botanical watercolor drawing of unknown age, apparently unsigned, featuring leaves and insects, one likely a wasp or similar. The work is very clean and ready for the wall. Some slight brownish toning of the paper seems to be accentuated by the camera; it does not appear that way to the naked eye. The attention paid to detail, by the artist, is impressive. The crisp and stylish monochromatic gray/black/white scheme makes this a neutral piece that will fit into a lot of situations...

A fine and accomplished watercolor abstracted drawing in the Cubist style of the early 20th century, unsigned, the sheet 15" by 10", the drawing itself 6 1/2" by 4 1/4", (21" by 15 1/2" nicely framed). I did open this to inspect for a signature and found none, nor any other information as to artist. The work could have some age, or it could be of recent vintage; difficult to tell from looking at the pebbled paper. Watercolor on paper painting, 10 1/2" by 13 1/2" (18 1/4" by 21" framed), signed at lower right "J.C. MIDDLETON.", the subject a suburban boathouse in a neighborhood, possibly in southeast England. Middleton painted in oil and watercolor in Surrey, greater London, and Cornwall, as well as South Africa, apparently, as a number of works from Cape Town are known. The artist was skilled in watercolor, as this painting shows a sure hand.

A floral still life painting on pebbled paper, 14 1/2" by 10 1/4" inside the mat, 19" by 15" as nicely framed (no glass). The work bears signature "Montezin" at lower left but I have researched the piece and it is not by the noted French artist. It is offered solely on its decorative qualities. There are light folds in the paper at top but they are not really a concern.
