Maki's Emanation series may well have been 100 different images. This is an early one. It shows a young man ready to grope a woman’s breasts. Who is the man and who is the woman? Adam and Eve? Maki and his wife? Maki and another woman? It measures 16" x 16". Here I show images of the current emanation and single images of other prints in the Emanation series. PAIR of framed Paris scenes on board, one showing Notre Dame and the Seine, the other a street scene with a 1930's car and figures, each signed "Montal" at lower right. I would guess these are tourist pieces in the Montmartre painters tradition, probably dating to the 1950's or so. Poem 70-10 is the kanji for day 日. It is a striking, simply executed print. Created in 1970, it is now over a half-century old. The print is 17.5in W x 24.5in H, large (but not huge). As Daniel Tretiak has said: In 1970 quite suddenly Haku Maki started producing truly large prints. He tells us that this one was large but Maki was destined to do even larger ones, that year and in 1973.

This is a lithograph, apparently signed in the plate only, by the noted American artist RAPHAEL SOYER (1899-1987). Soyer, one of several brothers who became significant figures in American art during the WPA and mid century period, became known for his sensitive studies of human figures in urban settings and interiors.
