Old American watercolor painting, early 1900's, featuring a leafless tree in what is apparently late autumn, a flash of color in the middle distance giving an indication that winter has not completely arrived. The work appears unsigned. Measurements are 15 1/4" by 10" and 18 1/4" by 12 1/2" in the old frame, which shows wear. The watercolor itself has survived the decades in good condition.

A beautiful orientalist style portrait of an Arab Tribesman is measuring 32”x22” oil By Franz SEDLACEK,an Austrian Orientalist Artist. (21 January 1891 – 1945) was an Austrian painter who belonged to the tradition known as "New Objectivity" ("neue Sachlichkeit"), an artistic movement similar to Magical Realism. At the end of the Second World War he "disappeared" as a soldier of the Wehrmacht near Toruń, Poland. He was declared missing on February 1, 1945 and pronounced dead in 1972.

Watercolor and white gouache highlighting on heavy paper landscape, 7 3/4" by 10 1/4", unframed (an early ruled mat with handwritten title and "19th CENTy." surrounds it), unsigned, the subject a hilly location in India (possibly a "hill station" in the foothills of the Himalayas). Note the fine detail including structures, tall skinny palms, a flag pole, etc. This probably dates to the 1860's or 1870's, and was likely executed by an English artist traveling through the region at the time...

A very old watercolor painting of a barefoot young man with traditional clothing and conical hat, unframed, 7" by 3", unsigned, dating to the mid 19th century. It could be by a local artist of the China Trade School, or perhaps by one of the rare expatriate artists who visited the region, on the order of George Chinnery. A beautifully painted miniature on natural wafer of a very attractive woman. The sitter is in a white gown with lace edging, presented in a straightforward manner, unadorned with jewelry, preferring to let her natural beauty speak to the viewer.

There are no condition issues to speak of, with the darker area below her bust line intentionally painted in that manner. Housed in a red leather case without glazing, the size is 2 3/4" by 2 1/4".
