A mixed media and collage work 22" by 18 1/2" (29" by 25" in metal frame, and behind Plexiglas for safe shipping) by the French mid century impressionist artist ROGER ETIENNE (1922-2011). The painting is signed at lower left by the artist and dated there 1981. Etienne is known for mid century drawings of young nudes and clowns, and big eyed children, with French newspaper often incorporated into the image, collage style...

A **PAIR** of fine watercolor and gouache drawings, both of Punjab (northern India) soldiers in costume of their period, both signed "John Lucas" by the noted English artist JOHN SEYMOUR LUCAS (1849-1923). THREE circa 1960's gouache on heavy paper abstract drawings, unframed, each 24" by 18", each signed at lower right "Greene". The works definitely seem to have some age as the reverse side of the paper is brown and vintage. I cannot connect these to any particular artist so offer them as decorative mid-century works. Condition is excellent, with just one edge nick on one drawing. Each is in a protective-only plastic poster box...

This is a very fine, classical early drawing, 5 1/8" by 8 5/8" (12" by 15 3/4" in attractive ornate gold leaf frame), not dated but likely dating to the 1830's through 1850 or so, signed at lower center by the artist "Loisel". The drawing, executed in pen, watercolor, and gum arabic highlighting in the trees and the low bank in center, is in excellent fresh condition, belying its age...

Russian late twentieth century lacquer box, 6" by 4" by 1 5/8" high, with signature (I believe) in Russian, and also a title, in Russian, at lower left. It is a great image, with mounted medieval horseman, an orthodox church in the distance, and a figure like Old Man Winter blowing at the horseman. Colors are delicate and pleasing. For the natural history aficionado or decorator, a PAIR of original finely detailed drawings in watercolor and ink, one titled faintly in pencil "Scorpions", the other featuring other unidentified but quite exotic-looking creatures with many legs. Contemporary Australian aboriginal art "dot" painting, acrylic on a thin canvas, signed on the reverse by artist POLLY PUNTJUNTA, and stamped with the Original Aboriginal Art Company stamp, of Adelaide, South Australia. The work measures 15" by 26 1/2" (23" by 34" in a wood frame with scratches). The past framer elected to place the reverse wire so as to hang this vertically, though I do not believe there is any particular reason to have done so. An interesting marriage of Japanese kirigami or "kirie" art, (paper intricately cut to a lace-like appearance, that finished work, in this example, a crane standing in water, and surrounded by pine trees) and a circa 1885 American Eastlake style gold and black frame. The paper art measures 5 1/2" by 5", and the entire framed piece 15" by 13 1/2". The kirigami has been laid against a green-blue crushed velvet type surface, creating an interesting effect. An unusually beautiful and impressive example of Vietnamese lacquer painting, an art form that goes back many centuries in China and Southeast Asia. The technical process is very complex, involving application of multiple layers. This panel, unframed, measures 15 1/2" by 23 1/4" and it is not signed. Note the gold showing through in many areas, and the detail of the figures and general atmosphere and luminosity created by the artist in a notoriously difficult medium.

This one is certainly a challenge to describe----but I will give it a go. A colorful image of an idyllic tropical beach ringed by coconut palms and bordered by emerald green water, signed at lower right by contemporary San Diego artist Vonda Velasquez. The work is affixed at three edges to another sheet, I was able to peer into the back via the open side and do not see any writing or other information there.
