Oil on canvas landscape oil, unmounted/unstretched, contained loosely in a decorative and complementary modern white metal frame, measuring 5" by 7" (7 1/2" by 10" as framed), signed at lower left "A. Schilling". I would date this to the late 19th century or early years of the 20th. De Witt Parshall, Santa Barbara, California, 1864-1956. This oil on board is 16" by 20" in a 4" frame. Overall dimensions are 24" by 28". It is signed on the front lower left and also signed and titled verso "Night". It is in excellent condition in an original American Period frame. Parshall studied in Dresden, Germany as well as Paris in 1887-88, He has an extensive exhibition record including the World's Columbian Expo in Chicago in 1893 and the Corcoran Biennial 5 times 1908-1937...
