A beautiful framed Western Scene of American circa 1900-1920 oil on board framed

Oil on canvasboard, 14" by 10" (19 1/4" by 15 1/4" as framed), signed at lower right in red "K. L. Weatherly" and dated there 1940. One of two works by this same artist I acquired at the same time, (the other one also in my shop), this is an impressionistic view of a southern American regional landscape, a swamp or lake with bald cypress and Spanish moss hanging from the trees. Such a scene would normally be encountered in a place like the Louisiana bayous...

A classic painting of the California desert and mountains, oil on Masonite, 12" by 15" (15" by 18" in vintage old frame possibly carved by artist), signed lower left by noted California impressionist JOSEPH FREY (1892-1977). This is likely a view looking west towards the towering 11,000 foot high Mt. San Jacinto massif which looms over Palm Springs. The artist has interestingly painted in a "liner" border in a cream color; this is part of the painting and not a linen liner...

The work measures 14 1/2" by 15 1/4" (18" by 18 1/2" framed). On the reverse of the old board is written in old hand in pencil what appears as "Robert Swasey/327 Spring St./Portland Maine". I have looked for the name Robert Swasey in standard art search sites and have not located a known recognized painter by this name...

Palmer studied with George Bellows at the Art Students League. He is known for his portraits and his illustration work (pulp fiction covers). He also worked on murals in Connecticut for the WPA Federal Arts Project. 25" by 21" in its frame.

A nicely worked watercolor of a church dominating over its obviously European village, 15 1/2" by 18 3/4" (21 1/2" by 25" framed), signed at lower right with what appears as "W Kuns" or "Whuns" or similar. The watercolor is clean, with some browning at the very edges from long contact with the mat. Probably executed circa the 1960's, possibly, in the Baltic states (possibly, Latvian) or another part of eastern Europe.
