Original painting on gesso panel by Pierre Carron (French, born 1932). Inscribed, signed, and dated verso: "Scena d'Amore Affresco Della Casa Romana De La Farnesina--Pierre Carron--1964". 9" by 14" work alone, 14" by 19" in its frame. This work dates from the end of Carron's residency at the Villa Medici (1961-1964) in Rome, where he met Balthus who directed the establishment. Carron had already won the Grand Prix de Rome by that time in 1960...

Gouache on paper painting of a lush tropical scene with a few figures and thatched huts under mysterious palm trees, signed at lower right "KOPP" and the word "Rio" after it. This work was likely created in the 1960's or early 1970's at latest, in Brazil. There is no glass nor mat; over time, at top center left in the tree line, and in the sky, the work acquired small paint loss areas, which are overwhelmed b the busyness of the scenery---and they are easily touched up...

A fine and intriguing painting by the well regarded Ohio artist, Emerson Burkhart (1905-69). Probably dating from the 1960's. This painting measures about 20" by 16", overall frame about 22 1/2" by 18 1/2". Interesting subject and composition. Signed on back and front as shown.

A nice miniature painting done, in watercolor on natural material, by Ebenezer Mack. The sitter is dressed in a black jacket, and a white vest, shirt, and stock. Housed in its original gold case.

Although all of Mack's works are quite naïvely rendered, this example is even more primitive than most, indicating that it was done quite early in his career, probably in the 1785 time frame. His works are very rare, and he did not sign his paintings...

Isaac Van Oosten, Flemish, 1613-1661,Attribution. Stunning Flemish/Dutch, 16-17th C. Oil on copper. This piece is in excellent condition. The in-frame dimensions are 38" W x 30" H while the painting itself measures 28 1/4" W x 20 1/4" H. The amazing frame is from the 19th Century and showcases the beauty of the piece. The subject matter is Venus (in her Half Shell chariot pulled by doves) finding Adonis dead after the hunt she begged him not to go on.

Pencil signed by the artist at lower right is this contemporary offset color print, 8" by 10" inside the mat, 12 1/4" by 14" in simple light wood frame, the subject a poetic one of mother and daughter on a bench in a leafy setting, the girl reading a book, a picnic basket at right. BARBARA A. WOOD the artist is from Ohio but also has spent considerable time in California, and, I believe, Georgia. Her work, whether in oil or a graphic work, often features studies of figures and families...

A wonderful late nineteenth century oil Portrait of Saint Jerome measuring 38” x 32” ITALIAN SCHOOL

A circa 1970 painting of a plaza in Paris, 22 1/2" by 26" in silver and black framing, signed at lower left with what appears as "Lietti". The work is in the style of many of the Montmartre tourist painters of the time, but is unusual in that it is painted in grays, blacks, white, and a grayish tan at far right. This Minimalist palette would lend it to being room-friendly in your Mid Century setting...

From our European Collection, a fine and quite large oil on canvas of a seated gentleman, by Ignaz Marcel Gaugengigl 1855-1932. The painting here signed but undated, but most likely 3rd quarter 19th century, and likely no later than 1920. The following information courtesy of Wikipedia:

Charcoal drawing on paper laid on thin board, 28" by 38", unframed, signed at lower right "McBride". I am not familiar with the apparently unlisted artist might be but he or she was talented and possibly familiar with the San Francisco School/California School, Northern California School of art---artists like David Park, Nathan Oliveira, Elmer Bischoff and Manuel Neri. The haunting face especially reminds me of some of these esteemed artists' works...
