Haku Maki did quite a number of prints using persimmon as a main theme Probably well over 100 He also began doing prints with ceramics around 1980 He probably did more than 100 ceramics theme prints. But the two there only came together in the persimmon and blue vase print shown here (and in an equally rare one with a persimmon and a strikingly beautiful yellow vase also shown here)...

A wonderfully limed work of a young man, done by John Barry. The porcelain-complected sitter, with reddish-brown hair and brown eyes, is finely dressed in a white cravat, a green and cream striped vest and a silk-lined black coat.

The painting is in excellent condition, with no flaws (the white area on the left is light reflection), and is housed in its original gold bracelet slide case. The sight size is 1 1/2" by 1 1/4"...

An antique, classical, academic red chalk drawing of the head and neck of a young male, 19 3/4" by 15 1/4" (25" by 20 1/2" framed), unsigned. The circa 18th century drawing is quite beautiful and Neo-Classical, after the sculpture of ancient Greece and Italy. The gold frame does have some losses.

Pencil signed 1986 color print "The Buffalo Hunters", numbered at lower left margin 214/1000 and pencil signed at lower right margin by the well-known contemporary western American art master FRED FELLOWS (1934-). The large print (18" by 34" inside the double mat), 24" by 40" as framed, is a typical example of the work of this realist western and cowboy genre artist, known for both sculpture and painting...

A lovely ink and watercolor drawing, 10" by 13" (22" by 28" framed), featuring two elegantly dressed early 20th century women strolling in a park-like setting, as a gentleman on horseback passes by headed in the other direction. The work is signed at lower left by LUDOVIC-RODO PISSARRO (1878-1952), one of four sons of famous French impressionist artist Camille Pissarro. "Rodo" as he was often called throughout his life, was born in Paris and early on received training from his father...

This is an oil on board painting of a small house in a forest landscape, apparently unsigned, in the general tradition of the Hudson River School, 13 1/2" by 21 1/2" plus gold framing about 1 1/2" on a side. The work could date from about 1900 to maybe the mid 1920's, I would think. It is a decorative work that gives the feeling of a more expensive painting, when viewed from a distance...

Bold, likely American oil or acrylic on paper painting, with black, white and greenish-blue elements standing out against a red background, 19" by 23 1/2" (24" by 30" in shiny chrome metal type framing), signed in pencil at lower right with initials "M K". The contemporary work includes some identifiable forms, such as a five-pointed star at lower left, and one wonders if the black imagery at top is a human form including head, two breasts, legs, and feet...

Watercolor on paper of a small white painted house in a sparse landscape, the sheet measuring 15" by 22", signed at lower right with "N.W.S." (National Watercolor Society) by the listed California watercolor artist ROBERT UECKER (1929-2005). Clara E. Klinghoffer 1900-1970 British This is a fine original lithograph by British artist Clara Klinghoffer. This study of a seated nude has an image size of 13 3/4X11 7/8 inches. Printed on a medium weight wove type sheet, hand signed in pencil lower right.

This is a charming antique watercolor, signed at lower right "Vl. Titelbach", and dated there 1884, the subject a celebratory procession of country folk complete with ox-drawn wagons, horse, drums, pistol being fired in the air and other quaint details. The work is on old browned paper, and it measures 14" by 21" inside the mat. There is no glass (I discarded it---was cracked when this was found, in southern Maine). Presently it is housed only in a simple modern metal frame...

A fine, interesting mixed media (watercolor/white gouache) drawing, 10 1/4" by 12 1/2", (13 3/4" by 16 3/4" framed) titled on reverse "Old House and Horse", signed in pencil lower right by well-known, well listed American artist JOHN GRABACH (1886-1981). An old framer's label from Newark, NJ remains on the backing. Grabach grew up in Newark, New Jersey, progressing over the years with his art until he came to be a leader of the Newark School...
