An antique Japanese Niigata 2 section Kasane Tansu (stacking chest on chest) with hand made iron fittings. The lock plates feature the Sho Chiku Bai motif (Pine, Bamboo, Plum Blossom known as the 3 felicitous friends of winter) with the longevity symbols of the turtles and crane. Each drawer has Kakute handle pulls and the hinged door hides 3 small drawers.

The front of the chest is made of natural Kirinoki while the tansu body was designed using a dark red wiped lacquer technique...

This ceramic bowl was produced in France by Longwy in the late 19th century. It is not signed, but the workmanship and style of the bowl are characteristic of the Longwy factory. A simple, elegant celadon bowl, Korean Koryo Period, 12 th Century, an early Koryo piece, which is right before Samgang style in 13th Century, decorated with a motif of flowers and scrolling vines embossed on the interior below an incised line. The grey-green glaze covers the entire piece except for three small spur marks on the recessed base; it displays a dense web or craze of lines...

Terrific pair of sterling silver sugar tongs dating to the reign of George III. The design (made by cutting reflective facets in the silver) is very nicely executed on this quality piece, and unlike many Georgian tongs, these are quite heavy.

This is a 2nd Century Roman Glass, hand blown 2nd century AD. It is thick and heavy, unflawed, no chips or cracks, no hairlines, it has a rounded neck and squre body. Unguentaria used to hold poisonous, caustic oils or ointments and were never smooth sided, to prevent the Roman from grabbing the dangerous oil by mistake. It is certainly one of the earliest poison bottles ever made. Measurements: 2 inches tall and 1 wide at its widest point...
