Turn-of-the-century sterling silver portable inkwell. Drum-form with hinged and cork-lined cover. Repousse scrolls, leaves, and flowers on sides and cover top. A nice piece with strong regional associations. Fully marked with maker’s stamp for William Wilson & Son, who was active in Philadelphia from ca 1883 to 1909, and retailer’s stamp for Bailey, Banks & Biddle, also in Philadelphia. Turn-of-the-century American Art Nouveau glass vase with engraved silver overlay. Dramatic baluster with short straight neck and flat rim. Overlay in form of entwined and scrolling tendrils with loose and elongated flower heads. Wide solid bands (vacant) on shoulder and base. Glass is rare cobalt. Fully marked including unidentified maker’s stamp (possibly Alvin). Excellent condition with deep color and nice patina.
