An antique Japanese Byobu screen in 2 panels depicting a Cherry Blossom tree with Bamboo and a full moon on a spring evening. Artist signed and painted in a Sumi-e technique over Gofun paper, he has sprinklings of gold specks to give the illusion of the last tidbits of sunlight fading into an evening moon. The frame was finished in a Negoro Urushi lacquer.

An Arita serving bowl, namasu, of moulded simplified lotus form partially celadon glazed with a ko sometsuke style Sansui landscape in the well of the bowl framed by enamelled Chestnut branches outlined in gilt. Antique Japanese two panel screen inlaid on both sides with mother of pearl and bone. The front has two beautiful scenes of birds and butterflies perched on flowering wisteria branches. The lower register has a phoenix and a dragon. The back side has scenes of butterflies flittering about. The lower region has panels of crashing waves.Meiji period, 1868-1912. It measures 37" tall 25.25" wide.

This is a very nice Shaker wheel walker with nice surface wear on the working end. 7 1/2" and is circa 1840 (. The finger is used to begin or lengthen the turn of the spinning wheel. A person holds the rounded end, and the lip on the other end rests on a spoke in the great wheel. A finely potted six sun sized dish decorated with a traveller clutching his hat and leaning into a cold wind before a snow covered Mount Fuji. The design would appear to be derived from a print of travellers in the Mishima pass, one of the 36 views of Mount Fuji. The reverse painted with a Karakusa arabesque with a single spur mark to the base. The dish dates to the late Edo period and the middle of the 19th century. An exceptional ladder back Delaware Valleycahir with 4 slats, original red wash and splint seat, and well developed turnings.

The chair is in excellent original condition and structurally sound. As to be expected there are some losses to the splints. The height is 43", with a width of 20" and a depth of 18". The seat depth is 16" and 18 1/2" high.

An exceptionally fine black lacquered wooden SHAN STATE BUDHHA, 19th Century, with very high quality gilding. The Buddha is in the subduing Mara position and sitting on a very high stepped throne.
