In the second half of the nineteenth century, Victorian tastes and habits dominated, with subdued colors, mourning jewelry, and general strictness. The Arts & Crafts Movement reacted to this and gathered strength from a number of world events. Elegant silver filigree brooch, a Norwegian solje. Less exuberant in style than most filigree solje brooches, without any enamel or gilt - just two shimmering roundels and the traditional chains holding the little pendant ornaments. Silver standard mark 830S and the pin hook with the three crowns of the Swedish hallmark – the brooch was made around 1900 when Sweden and Norway were united (the union was dissolved in 1905). A classic Victorian honeymoon brooch in 14K yellow gold. The traditional crescent shape supports a gold violet enameled in rich shades of rose, purple and cream and accented with green veining on the petals. The flower is centered with a small ruby. In Victorian flower language, the crescent shape represented “moon” and the flower represented sweetness or “honey”, thus “honeymoon”. Pins such as this were popular gifts from grooms to their new brides...

This pretty and detailed pin might depict St. Catherine (patroness of young maidens and female scholars – we like her!). There is a wheel in the background (possibly a “Catherine Wheel,” but it could also just be a ship's wheel or a spinning wheel), and a flower in the foreground. Her clothing looks very Renaissance-era to us. Marked “SILVER” on the C-clasp, with an illegible maker’s mark, the metal tests as sterling, and she’s a dainty 7/8” in diameter. 2.5g...

An elegant Art Nouveau ring converted from an antique French 18K gold stickpin. The gold clover is decorated with small natural pearls on each leaf arranged around a small bright green emerald. The stem is worked in platinum and is set with a small mine-cut diamond for a little added sparkle. The 18K gold and platinum clover is attached to a 14K yellow gold band.
Finger Size: 6-1/2 (can easily be sized). Clover Dimensions: 1/2" x 1/2". Weight: 1.7 gr.

Beautifully worked and quite generous in size this late Victorian / Edwardian locket pendant is, I am assuming, a US-made piece since it is not hallmarked at all. Elegantly monogrammed on the back, it opens to reveal a glass-protected case for the photo of your loved one...

This wonderfully executed 10Kt gold locket, decorated by the traditional Freemason insignia dates back to the Victorian era. The insignia is enhanced by 10 rose cut diamonds and a natural ruby. The locket is ¾” wide and 1” long without the jump rings on top. The total length of the locket with the oversized jump ring is 1 7/8”. There are some slight dimples on the back, but the over all condition is very good.

Antique Dark Green Cross when acquired was presented as 'petrified wood' & is faintly stamped: DAT MAY 5 '6' at lower edge. Promo. May be an early 1900 bakelite thermoset or gutta percha, rubber type of militaria material.

A Victorian 10k yellow gold garnets and pearls ring circa 1900. This size 5-3/4 late Victorian ring features two antique cut garnets flanking a diagonal setting with three seed pearls. It measures 1/2 x 3/16" across the setting, it weighs 2.3 grams and it is samped 10K with a JS maker's mark. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, damage or repairs...

A handsome pair of Edwardian yellow gold cufflinks, the faces formed from barbell-shaped batons of green serpentine. The stone has an attractive semi-opaque pale green color flecked with black specks. Serpentine was often used as a substitute for jade. The gold backs are marked “9Ct”.

This is an authentic Art Nouveau 14Kt yellow gold amethyst and oriental pearl pendant. The pendant is set with a 3 millimeter faceted amethyst in the center and further decorated by 7 oriental pearls. The 1 ¾” high and ¾” wide pendant is on an 18” 14Kt yellow gold chain.

This is a one of a kind, beautifully carved amethyst head of a dog late Victorian 14Kt yellow gold stickpin. The three dimensional dog’s head was masterfully carved out of one piece of natural amethyst with great detail by a very talented artist.
