This is an elegant vintage five piece gray abalone and silver bezel pair of cuff links & stud set in original box, circa 1940-1950, This dress set includes circular cufflinks and three shirt studs, the abalone set in white metal bezels, the backs are the same. unmarked. A dramatic, wide cuff set with oval pieces of turquoise-colored glass cabochons in beaded bezel mounts. The cabochons alternate with pairs of stud-like protrusions that contrast with the Victorian-like settings. The cuff is unmarked, but looks to be a white base metal on the inside with a good bit of surface wear and bubbling; the outer portion is silverplated and shows tarnish. One of the cabochons exhibits chips at the edge of the mount, but is stable (see Photos 1 and 3)...

An absolutely extraordinary pair of vintage sterling cuff bracelets by Frank Patania Sr. from his Thunderbird Shop in Santa Fe, NM. Impeccable, precise craftsmanship and design speak in these pieces. A stylized geometric openwork design characterizes this handmade bronze ring, made around 1965-1970. The band is adjustable, and bears the unidentified maker’s mark of P.N., in addition to the Finland mark. The tiny bumps of metal on the edges are from the casting process. The top measures 1 ¼ inches long by 1 inch wide; the band is currently sized at approximately a 7.

An important, rare modernist bracelet by the renowned African American jeweler, Art Smith. Made of woven, riveted and patinated copper.

Measures 5 3/4" around with an opening of 1 1/4" and 1 3/4" wide. Marked with the 'Art Smith' script signature in at least two places. Looks like there is also a third partial strike. Very good condition with some minor surface scratches and areas of tarnish.

A vintage modernist pendant necklace by noted mid century jeweler, Winifred Mason Chenet from her highly collectible Voodoo line. Pendant measures 3" long and 1 1/8" at the widest. Possibly pewter. Intricate chain is made up of silver colored squiggled links connected with brass rings and silver colored curved in links. Measures 32" long. No clasp, meant to go over the head. There is a little tarnish. Signed chenet on the back of the pendant. Interesting rare example.

These earrings are clipbacks. They display a beautiful design with large, pink, quartz cabochons. Their diameter is just over 3/4" and protrude 3/4". They are marked SILVER and have a Chinese hallmark. They are in excellent condition.

Circa mid-century, this is a very rarely seen design by Antonio Pineda. Museum quality, this piece is shown in Gobi Stromberg's Silver Seduction : The Art of Mexican Modernist Antonio Pineda, p.141. It's a heavy wide bracelet which is intertwined with two designs. One is Pre-Columbian, and the other is said to have been inspired by the cave drawings of Lascaux. Spectacular execution in this sterling and saw tooth bezel set coral ring by Santo Domingo silversmith Julian Lovato. He began working in 1938 and was a silversmith for Frank Patania Sr. in the Thunderbird Shop. This ring was made during his time there as it has his own signature as well as the Patania Thunderbird Shop mark, sterling IHM (Indian Hand Made). This neat Coro pendant measures 2 1/4" x 1 5/8" x 1/8". It features a cool, sterling, geometric design applied over a textured, hammered, ("dimpled"), shiny, blue background. The back is textured, sterling silver and signed Coro (in script) with the copyright symbol - raised and thick, c. 1960's. The pendant has good heft and is in excellent condition.

One of Taxco's foremost modernists, Enrique Ledesma was also an accomplished lapidary and his slick, mid-century jewelry often feature a seamless marriage of silver with semi-precious and other stones. Stern and solemn, a gorgeous example of classic Mexican Deco lapidary work, the chrysoprase “mask” centering the silver pendant at hand looks dignified and at ease, completely unaffected by the weight of its ornate headdress.
